Hey, i did a search on the topic but found no solutions to my problem.
During the Colder days we have had here in VA i've noticed that my truck
runs rough throughout the entire rpm range. But when the temp. gets about
65 degrees or higher it feels alot smoother. it's pretty distinguishable and
also when driving at about 2250RPMs it feels like the engine is out of balance
or something. Just makes the truck vibrate. but after you pass that line its
ok. btw, i own a 2005 SRT10 RC. If you need any more information please
ask. :) Also, i took it to Advance Auto Parts and did a code check. it didn't
throw any codes. : \

How cold , what gear @ 2250, what is oil and water temps?:dontknow:
 
Could be a miss firing or even a dead cylinder. Start out with checking plug wires and spark plugs. Make sure all the plug wires are securely attached to the plugs if they are you might want to remove the spark plugs and do a visual inspection for things like fouling.

Mine truck doesnt idle for shit in cold weather at start up (below 30 degrees). Modulates from 250-600 rpms until it warms up. Once it warms up a little then runs like a champ. I would take it in and see if the latest flash helps out as well do a once over. Could be orthogonal to the weather and turn out to be a bad plug/wire as mentioned.
 
Does it actually feel rough or just sound rough? These engines are not even firing so they so sound funny at times.
 
thanks, to everyone that replied, i wasn't sure if this issue was common or not.

to includemeout: The mornings here in VA are around 28 to 40 degrees. water and oil temps are normal. Water around the middle line(not at my car so i have no idea what number it is) which is normal. And the oil temp is around 160 - 190. It doesn't matter what gear i'm in as it runs rough in all
gears.

to Silverback: it feels rough. :( it sounds horrible when i punch it, right
around 5500RPMs it sounds like its gonna blow up rather than just rev high rpms.

Also, i've noticed that it only is noticeable when i am in gear. for example i did this test the other day to determine if it was the engine entirely.

I was driving around 40 and noticed that my engine was runnin rough. So i took it out of 3rd and rev'd the engine. i could not notice the rough feeling i usually get when in gear. So i put it back in 3rd and stomped on it. The engine then gave me the usuall rough feeling. So my guess is when ever the engine has stress on it aka in gear then its noticeable. otherwise it just sounds rough rather than feeling rough.

Any ideas? i'll try the sparkplug idea today and post back. That could very well be the problem.

mine was running rough at all rpms (i mean it was bucking!) it didn't throw a code right away. took it to the dealer...it was the throttle position sensor, and they actually had one in stock...ten minute fix:dancing:
 
yeah, i thought about fuel also. To be honest, i've never filled up
the truck with anything other than 93 octane. never used octane boosters or fuel cleaners of any sort. so im good on fuel. but ill check the plugs and take each one out and check for fouling. i'll post back in a little bit.

Does it get better as your drive it? Do you let it warm up at idle? Even if I let mine warm up at idle, the tranny is still cold. Therefore it still drives rough until the tranny is fully warmed up.
 
Hey, i just checked the plugs, there not loose and i checked the plugs for fouling and there is none. i looked at the air filter and it is more black than i have expected. i'll go out to pep boys and get a K&N filter. see if that fixes the problem.

to FlyingLow: i let it warm up for a while. Still runs rough. I got a feeling it
has something to do with the air temp.

i guess the next best thing is just to drop it off at the dealership and let them have a peak.

the colder it gets, the better mine runs. I hope the dealer gets it fixed for ya!

How much light can you see through the filter? That could be the problem. Not breathing. Just throwin my .02 in.

Well, figure i'd update you guys on the situation. I just got my Airraid drop in filter. Installed and noticed that its quite a bit smoother. After the holidays i'll probly bring it in for a checkup. Also when i disengage my clutch i get a fairly loud slapping sound. should i be concerned about this?

Had a recall on 04's and some 05's where the harmonic balancer was coming loose and causing a hell of a lot of problems. Better get to a dealer ASAP
