Running Out of Gas??

I noticed some bags on pumps at some of the "discount" places around here. :dontknow: But, all the Shell and Sunoco stations still have gas.

the only shortage i have seen was at an exxon near my house the weekend of hurricane ike. all of the other stations around it were pumping.

I just got power back! There is a shortage because most gas was diverted to the Texas coast, and now 25% of production is shut down... Bush lifted the 10% elthanol requirment so production should be coming back quick now...

DING DING DING DING DING... I'm surprised no one figured this was the problem until Zack's post. It's like the rest of the nation forgot already what happened last week. Hurricane Ike's effects was not just limited to east Texas. Much of the gas stations here have begun to sell fuel of all grades again. Only the stations that still are without power remain closed at this time. As BigRed460 said, he just got power back after being without it since around September 12th. Perhaps stations around his way will resume operations soon. Until all has returned to normal (including production) expect to see these issues in certain places.

What most people don't realize is your fuel is delivered by pipe line to the region being supplied, then the ship it by truck to stations, etc the pipeline used to bring fuel to the southeast is still shut down, and your right the panic before the storm (by station owners) screwed you and themselves. They were saying the should be up and running by the end of the week or month. Midwest fine east coast fine, southwest pipeline there still checking. Believe it or not there is hundreds of miles of pipelines under the U.S. but yet we still get charged out of state transportation charges, when actually it is pumped from texas and other states and then turcked in locally. FYI

Uh, yeah...I kind of guessed the hurricane might have something to do with it..;) ..I was interested why it was affecting so few places and why here this time....we have never ran out around here with the exception of the 70s deal....and what really surprises me is what gas was available dropped 25+ cents over the last few days.....and 110 octane race gas is only $4.99....93 costs $4.12...:dontknow:

Gas is flowing here now...seems all stations are back in business.....hate the mrs. got stranded Stinker........I guess this is that trickle down affect..:dontknow:

yeah i jsut saw some tankers going down the road, maybe they will get us some goo juice:D

All still good here, just filled up last night for $3.85, spent about $85.00:D

Yeah, I realized that Ike would have an impact on fuel production as it affected the refineries. I also saw an interview where a guy said the refineries could make their own electricity so I figured Ike would have less of an impact on them and they could be up and running in short order. As TNVIPER said, gas prices are coming down but there's no gas to buy.:dontknow: I heard that the pipeline has been checked out and that all grades of fuel should be available soon. :congrats:

No shortage in Savannah or Hilton Head. Talked to my brother last night and Atlanta and all surrounding towns are slap out of gas, none to be found. Lots of diesel though!

Metro Atlanta has to run a special ultra clean mix. The EPA lifted that for Atlanta yesterday so hopefully things will be back up and running soon. My brother can't pick up my truck till he can buy gas again!! I'm just getting screwed at every pass.

My guys are having problems filling up the work vans, may have to cancel jobs this weekend if it doesn't get better. But the 10 is full:rock:  . Had to put regular in the wife's Charger and change the tune:( :( . We're being told we should be back to normal by the end of next week.

You damn city folk need to stay out of the sandpit, we got tractors to run out here.

Local station was out of 93 last night, but they had it this morning. :burnout: Prices are still considerably higher than pre-hurricane and will probably stay that way :argh:

Was down at Wrightsville beach yesterday. Almost every station was out except for a shell that had premium. :argh:

Weird, and we have not had any problems at all. Got 93 yesterday for 3.82

I was going to try to go to Atlanta this weekend, but I am not sure if I should...

93 is down to $3.89 here with gas available at all stations......You might stay away from Atlanta...I saw on the news this morning they were experiencing shortages...one guy they interviewed said he had driven to 10 stations trying to find gas..
