a buddy of mine just finished his procharger set up on his jeep srt-8. instead of using a bov he used a wastegate. he also has a boost controller . i didnt belive him so i did a little research and found this.
Vortech Centrifugal Supercharger Wastegate Install - Muscle Mustangs & Fast Fords Magazine

on his jeep it sounds great. he has a 13lbs pulley but the wastegate is set at 6psi. he has almost instant boost . has anyone here every heard or tried it?

this is what it looks like and sounds like.

Yep only way to control boost, but he also needs his blow off valve,

Im running dual waste gate and blow off valves, boost is controlled by the AEM

he doesnt have a bov only the wastegate. well thats what he said. i will check out his set up later this week. ive never seen it on a s/c set up only turbos.

Opps. He does have a bov too. Ths wastegate is under the s/c. That pic is the bov. Sorry.

The part I'm mad at is my brother in law made that video for him and did a fucked up one for me. Asshole!!

yep he will be good to go, it apparently cuts the life of the blower down a bit due to over spinning it as the wastegate is getting rid of access gases, but everyone i researched and spoke to said its well worth it to gain a ton of traction and control..

how can ya over speed a belt driven blower???

i know on a turbo system, if ya run with a large enough boost leak, cracked ATA, split hose, etc., long enough it will make the turbo over speed & greatly shorten its life.

but belt driven????

The blowers have a rpm limit.some 50,000 rpm others 70,000 depends on the modle I think my new f3R can rpm about 10'000 more than my f2 ,,,

So with a waste gate you put larger pullies to spin it faster and then blow off the extra boost causing it to over work. And then at high rpm it may over spin. But you get more boost down low or where ever you want it because the blower is working harder all the time not just when you floor it. That's the basic version of how you overspin a procharger.

great:rock: thanks

You guys will have even more traction problems then you do now if you go this route. Reason why is the instant boost like a screw blower. Benefit to centrifical is boost builds slower so tires can handle it better.

If you want more low end power why not just use a roots or screw type blower?

The whole reason I pulled my ROE off and put a Paxton on was because of heat issues with a ROE:(,the Paxton and Pro Charger have better options for intercoolers to get cooler air into the engine (without running water/meth) which makes more power and less detonation.

A pro charger provides instant boost no matter what, I think the op might not have been 100% clear on his original post or gotten his thought across properly.

The benefit of adding the waste-gate is this, You get the instant boost of the supercharger but you also get the adjust-ability of the turbo. And this now gives you the best of both worlds for a " my opinion only, superior power band"

and when running with the correct software you can now modulate boost or hp or traction or what ever you want to call it..

You can modulate by gear or rpm, or gear and rpm. This is a huge advantage so instead of having 25/30lbs of boost in my motor in 1st gear at 7k rpm, i will have probably 5lbs of boost in 1st gear at that rpm, and maybe down lower at 1200rpm we could have 8lbs of boost, as we are spinning the blower much harder than we need so boost is always there at a higher level than needed, but we just blow off the access..

and in 2nd gear maybe we go from the 5lbs up to 8lbs threw the range, then 3rd 8-14lbs and 4th 14-20 and 5th 20/25 lbs and so on.. " not acurate numbers but you get the idea" you choose what gear can hold what traction with your tire, So basically you can hold the pettal to the mettal and not worry about blowing the tires off to badly ..

My original set up was insane,, You touch the gas in 1,2 3 and it just blows the tires off at any rpm new set up will have much more power but will be able to put it to the ground..

the wastegate is a huge fix for the big power blower guys especially if you have traction problems,

and a roe will not perform as well as a procharger on its worst day on lowest boost setting and on a engine that is running on 1 cylinder lol..
