Now I sit me down in school
Where praying is against the rule
For this great nation under God
Finds mention of Him very odd.

If Scripture now the class recites,
It violates the Bill of Rights.
And anytime my head I bow
Becomes a Federal matter now.

Our hair can be purple, orange or green,
That's no offense; it's a freedom scene.
The law is specific, the law is precise.
Prayers spoken aloud are a serious vice.

For praying in a public hall
Might offend someone with no faith at all.
In silence alone we must meditate,
God's name is prohibited by the state.

We're allowed to cuss and dress like freaks,
And pierce our noses, tongues and cheeks.
They've outlawed guns, but FIRST the Bible.
To quote the Good Book makes me liable.
We can elect a pregnant Senior Queen,
And the 'unwed daddy,' our Senior King.
It's 'inappropriate' to teach right from wrong,
We're taught that such 'judgments' do not belong.

We can get our condoms and birth controls,
Study witchcraft, vampires and totem poles.
But the Ten Commandments are not allowed,
No word of God must reach this crowd.

It's scary here I must confess,
When chaos reigns the school's a mess.
So, Lord, this silent plea I make:
Should I be shot; My soul please take!
Amen

OCBOB,

I personally believe religion is best addressed at home or the church and not the schools.

Morals are best taught at home from people that should be our kids role models.

Schools have too much of a diverse culture to try and teach one view of religion. Our children deserve better than to be preached at in a place of learning. They should spend their time at school learning the arts and science and not one view of religion.

Isn't the government too involved in our lives now? I really don't want them involved with what view of god my children should have, that is my job, if I choose to do that for them.

I am all for people praying wherever they want....But school is not the place for it IMHO....Except for sunday school....Keep your faith to yourself and just know Jesus would not be offended either since that book you hold in such high regard says nothing about it....Manditory pledge of allegiance I am in favor of....it even says one nation under God in it....Nough said...all the bases are covered and your hair can even be pink if you want

There ya go again trying to recruit those little kiddy's with the pink hair thing:p

Personally I think when God left the classroom so did the moral fiber of our younger generations.

I also think they should all wear uniforms, then do away with Football and the like ( hate paying taxes toward that crap) No parking lots for kids to park in(that is why they have buses) and use all the money for things like Vocational Training, Life Skill Classes like home economics, Math, English, and Science.

Schools these days do not prepare our young ones for much of anything expert for Instant Gratification and Failure for the most part.:( :( :(

Fortunately it's no longer a Leave it to Beaver world anymore.....P.S. Your the last person alive with rabbit ears cheapo :D :p

I also agree with school uniforms but disagree with doing away with sports. Sports is very important and it teaches people social skills so they don't end up a hermit desert yeti :p

The moral fiber of our country should not be taught in our schools. i disagree with you on that one.

I would argue that our schools have taken out math and science, which does set them up for what you say. Most of our children are being taught not to love the search for knowledge. They are being taught to memorize things to meet a test. America used to be the leader in thinking. Our public schools do not teach independent thought. They just manage our kids and move them from classroom to lunch then back to a classroom where they are taught to memorize some other stupid fact.

I'm a product of public school teaching and I have excelled despite of it. I have a lot of other friends that i always thought were smarter than I am and they are still stuck where they are.

Ok, that is what P.E. classes were for, and ya really had to do a work out.

Sports (team stuff) is Ok, that is what the Public Park System is for.

All the bullshit due to sports taught me alot about social skills, mostly how to avoid it.

Rabbit Ears get just as much Garbage on the tube as anything else, that is why I don't watch it:p :p :p :p :p
