I am debating wether to get my truck dyno'd and getting a custom tune made for it from a pretty reputable shop down this way...

The guy says he can dyno it but he would need the software...I don't know what software he is referring to and I was told SCT has the software on their site...

I have tried calling SCT to get some answer's but, SOB:argh: , they have the worst customer service EVER, never answer the phones and don't return messages....so I'm hoping someone here knows what software the guy needs to tune it....

Also has anyone done an outside custom tune and had any good, bad, or ugly experiences? i want to get the most out of my truck but all while doing it safely, of course! One last thing is on the auto tranny, is the torque management an option that is removed on the SCT software?
Thanks in advance for the help!

Don't know about the auto stuff, but I would recommend getting an email tune from sean roe at roe racing with all your specs. Then get it dynoed. If anything looks wrong on the dyno you can always send the graph to sean and he can make adjustments. Just my .02.

I know the guy down the street that has a dyno and he needs the "software" and he is referring to the SCT. I know with the SCT's the torque management is removed.

Thanks for the auto detail......
I want to get it dyno tuned b/c the guy charges just as much as getting 3 roe tunes and he includes dyno runs....plus he is local so anytime i need something I take the truck to him!
My truck was from a member on here and supposedly from factory this truck was one of the freak builds from factory with like 467HP so I'm hoping for a tune to be in the 500's

I agree with you. Tuning the viper is a challange. Few that have good tunes, do so by doing hundreds successfully and a few horribly and learning from it. If you got a single tune that closely matches someone else that has your same mods, which Roe and DC have more than enough cookie cutter tunes to suit you, you can then get a dyno tune to just iron out any rich or lean peaks throughout your dyno graph.

Getting a decent baseline to start out with is safer, and will probably be more accurate for someone that has never tuned the viper before.

Haha. You're hoping for a tune, so you can beat me.:D I think the only software that you can get on SCT's site, is the software to load the tunes on the tuner. The actual tuning software you would have to buy. Roger, go the safe route and have Torrie or one of the reputable viper tuners, do it for you. Then get it dynoed and send them the results. They'll fine tune it for free after you've bought the initial tunes. You know they are going to have a dyno at the fastest mile competition that Mickey is running in? He's charging like $60.00 for 3 pulls to those that pre-register for the dyno.

first off your not going to get anywhere near 500, probalby not much more than you have now.

and not going to mention it again , but torrie does roes tunes, torrie has the software, and can do the dyno tune, and make any changes yyou need.

just send him an emial an let him know what you want and discuss it with him.

if the guy doesnt have the software to tune a viper, then you dont need to use him.

my suggestion, leave it alone before you blow it up geting the last 3 hp out of it, it could cost alot more than a few hundred for a tune if your not careful

I was just thinking that locally I could get it on a dyno and fine tune it to get some more hp.
I'm hoping that I can get around 500. It has already been dyno at 460+ so with the mods and tune numbers wise it should be around 500 unless the tune does not really produce 40hp to the wheels as it claims.
Probably will just bUy a generic tune, then get it dyno'd to get the most out of it.

Remember Roger, all dyno's are different. The one that the previous owner used may have been the type of dyno that show's higher numbers than, lets say, a Mustang dyno.

That much I dont know? I'm just going to get it dyno'd after I get the tunes from torrie. There's a place close to ms that does it for. $40. I'd do it down at the run but I'm sure there's going to be a line for that!

Make sure they have wideband A/F Ratios on the graph or the dyno is useless.

dyno's vary alot & HP claims don't really mean much.......;) i've run my RC on a dynojet & got 460rwhp, then on a dynodynamics dyno & got 515rwhp.....:D

dyno's should be used for tuning only & only use the same one for accuracy...... the track is where you can see what your truck can do, you've already experienced that - right? ;)

if you've gotten your pcm flashed or sct can tuned your QC by a vendor here for 460rwhp  then it's unlikely you'll see 40 more rwhp out of a personalized tune..... :(

when i got my sct tune for my truck installed, i took it to the dyno for my three pulls, then sent the info to my tuner to clean up the A/F abit..... there wasn't any great hp change from canned tune to personalized tune, because the canned tunes are pretty good. :)

if you allready have a stage II flash you arent going to gain much bud seriously, you would be better off leaving it be for now and putting the money elsewerre, you may gain 5-10 hp, but , just trying to help out;)

You can pre- reister at the website and supposedly those who registered get in first.

you'd be better off buying a set of long tube headers or a small shot of juice or both
