Can somebody help, I have a 2006 Ram SRT 10 that I bought from the original owner back in Feb. He removed the cats and cut the wire harness to the down stream O2 sensors. The check engine light stays on all the time.
I brought the truck to a local performance shop to see what can be done to extinguish the light. They recommended SCT tunner and a program from SCT to override the light, that sounded easy, but after installing 9 codes, the light still comes on after a few starts of the truck. So now they want to try to install O2 sim modules, does this sound like the way to go? Or should i find another shop or install the cats and hook up the sensors?

Get an sct tuner and talk to Torrie @ unleashed tuning or Tony at jts

Reconnect the rear o2 sensors and strap them to the frame or get bunts welded in and put them In the pipe = no ck eng lite

Hanging seems to work for the 04/05 models but not the 06....though it seems a couple 06s have got the hang to work...didnt for me...you may need the sims to clear the CEL...

Yeah I have the same problem. I was thinking about trying the SIMMS my self. Just have to find somewhere to get them from.

I have an 05 with no cats welded o2 bunge into pipe still having check engine light problem and I have already an sct tuner from Torrie but havnt talked to him about my problem yet...maybe he can send me an upload to override the secondary o2 sensor on bank 1 or both if not wht is this sims you guys are talking about??

Just shoot him an email. He is usually quick to respond

ok talked to a few about this today,

you need an electrical connection, you cant jsut remove the sensors, or at least thats the censous

next you cna easily make simms

pick up a couple spark plug antifoulers at your local auto store,

they come two to a pack

you need two packs

take the first pack, remove the two, take one and drill it completely out until you can screw it completly on the sensor and it seats well, then make sure you can screw the second anti fouler on to the first.

then screw back into exhaust, what this does is pull the 02 out of the exhaust stream jsut enough to get reasonable clean air

and then if you have an SCt , email torrie, and he can adjsut your tune for the sensors

First thing I would do is to find where the O2 wires were cut. Purchase O2 Extenstions and splice them in to get some type of wiring harness back as close to OEM as possible. (Make Sure it is Water/Weather Tight)

If there are cut wires it could cause any kind of trouble, resulting in Codes.

Instead of Sims, and if he had the rear O2's, could you use them and setup the tuner to turn off the rear O2's? I think that's what the Mopar PCM does if you install their headers and mids and of course their PCM. Not sure if you can program a SCT to turn off the rear O2's.

Yeah, i thought you could just ask torrie to disable the rear (downstream) o2 sensors???

you can diable them .....but you will still have an open currnt from cutting them which would probably still result in a code:dontknow: :dontknow:

just get two more rear o2 sensors plug them in and dont put them in the exhaust pipe ,,tie them up under the frame and your done ,,im catless with long tubes ,,,did mine that way and have never had a code one ;)

Yup, my rear 02's have been strapped to the frame from day one. Simplest solution. I added the anti-foulers like Tony said about two years ago just to be sure that the senors didn't get wet and short out...strapping them to the frame is the simplest solution...they get all the clean air they want there. I used the driver side rear bung for my air/fuel gauge, and plugged the other.
