Second Car - SRT-4 Thoughts???

OK, I want a cheap second car.....as we all know, mileage sucks, and as much as I LOVE driving the 10 on my little daily commute, I want to keep the miles low now that they've been discontinued.....

With that being said, I need a little 4 cylinder to motor around in.....been looking at some small yota trucks, honda cars, and even toyed with the fun of a wrangler (although mileage sucks on those too)....then, I started toying with the idea of an SRT-4.....the reviews have highway mileage at 30mpg, they are fun, fast, and part of the family.....also, can probably swing a decent deal on an 04 with 10k mile range....

I'd appreciate any feedback.....I don't have first-hand knowledge of these....what years or options to watch out for, common problems, that type of stuff....

Thanks,

Jason

Might want to lurk on one of the SRT-4 forums to see what is said there.

I wish I had done that here before I bought my truck - might have saved a bit of $$ on the price!

I came into the same boat kinda, But im turning my vette in a daily commuter, which actually they make great cars for that except in the winter.

Easy to work on very acessible to work on, lots of parts, good on gas, rides good, tons of power, handles well, and it has AC :)

You are a bad, bad man

Been checking out their forums, but not too much there as far as I can tell....this site gets many touches and better feedback than other forums...

I'm working on a few options, just might buy a cheap cash beater, i dunno :dontknow:

If you want a great cash beater then buy an old Turbo Z like mine... It's the Z32 model... I believe the years were 1989-1996. They are a real kick in the ass to drive. They are extremely comfy inside. They are bullet proof in the drivetrain department...the engine came from their racing program.. And as long as to change the oil religiously, they will last forever....or about 250-300,000 miles... You can get one for about 5-8,000 dollars.

My Z32TT is the best car I've ever owned....

One word of caution: They are not the best cars in the rain because of the amount of power they have. They can get a little bit squirrily. Other than that there's no better bang for the buck....:burnout:

Happy hunting bro......

Kewl, thanks for the advice, will check them out....

I know I'll catch hell from you guys over this but I bought this as my daily driver. Constant 47MPG wherever I go and I drive over 50K miles per year. - john
