See World's Cheapest Car: Sells for $1,979

It has a two-cylinder engine, travels at a maximum speed of 65 miles per hour and its body is constructed of sheet metal and plastic, but the new Tata Nano is the world's cheapest car. Launched in India this week with deliveries beginning in July, it sells for 100,000 rupees or $1,979.

Talk about a cheap car! See the four-seat Nano from India's Tata Motors Ltd. that sells for less than $2,000. It has no air conditioning, radio or airbags, but it does get 50 miles per gallon of gasoline. The four-door Nano is 10 feet long and seats five. Motorcycles are a common way to travel in India, and Tata hopes the cheap price will encourage millions of Indians to trade up to the Nano, which will allow families to ride together, reports the BBC News. Tata plans to sell the car in other markets around the world.

It's probably just me, but I'd love to see someone get t-boned driving that. :dontknow: At least they died getting great gas mileage.
