i live in the middle of know where, no emissions and so on, what are your best mods? im just starting off, so tires will be the first! tell me about your mods, then what, what would you change if your could, go back and do different or vise versa, i want all around performance and keep it n/a so as to keep longeavity of the plant. i love my srt 10!! what can i do to keep it in charge. thanks i n advance Bill

Bill, the modification of your truck needs a plan. Too often people get caught up in the "mod of the moment." Decide what you want as an end product...is it going to be a daily driver, a full race machine, a quick street machine, or a very quick street/strip monster. Are you sure that what you have is not enough. Is your interest mainly in appearance mods, or does appearance take a back seat to performance? An example: People jump on CAI conversions because it is visually very attractive, and the sound is great. Lots of CAI builders advertise horsepower increases and that has really become a debate. Then shortly after getting a CAI some decide that they want to boost the engine and end up trying to sell their used CAI because they are going to a turbo, or supercharger...

With the end in mind, you can begin (Excuse me Stephen Covey). Decide what your objective is...

You don't say if you have a QC or a RC. That is important...what you start with in large part determines what you will be doing initially...from a performance perspective the QC owner usually gets the biggest bang initially from a pcm flash...but if you plan to supercharge or turbocharge that engine, the pcm flash will be something that will have to be re-done when you go to forced injection. The second most popular move is exhaust modification, headers, cat delete, and Magnaflow...

If you have a RC, then your initial performance approach is probably determining if you will need to move to a Centerforce Clutch with the Viper Slave and Master Cyl modification (you will have to sooner or later). Then the same exhaust approach as mentioned above.

Following these initial mods, people start dealing with engine temperature issues with a thermostat change, additional cooling mods such as fans and intercoolers.

As far as visual mods, well that comes to a taste question....anything goes except wing removal. Wing removal is tantamount to treason.

Hope this helps get you started...welcome aboard, come often and read carefully, there are lots of opinions here, and opinions are like ass holes...some stink and some don't.

Well....I was gonna say start with a CAI...but Prof said it way better than I kould. :)

Welkome to your new home and be prepared brother! Once you start changing stuff on your truck, your in it for the long haul!!:D:D:D

Hope you got a huge limit on your Kredit Kard!!!:D

The Prof is spot on here, very good advice.

If you do not plan on going the FI route and have a RC............just copy my mods dude! You will love it!! I wouldnt change any of them...............cept may the CAI, I would get Justins cooler looking one!:D

Power wise, new clutch = more power to your feet.
Losing cats = noticeable power increase.
Flash= noticeable power increase.
4.88 gears= noticeable change, truck feels way lighter and faster.

My last two mods were cat delete and flash...........these two alone made my truck feel like a new torque monster!

Hope that helps.

thanks prof:) well put, ive been reading about clutch upgrades with vipar parts but i have know idea where to get them, what all is needed parts wise or what a good price would/should be. anyone have a preference on tires. oh yeah its a 04 rc thanks bill

Bill, JMB Justin sell the clutch upgrade kit, as well as Roe Racing and Boomer (x metal). Cost is about $1500 (?) for the entire clutch upgrade kit.

Still have the stocker tires on mine........still under 10k miles.

Just keep reading here and you'll learn all kinds of great info.

Just an fyi....there's an underground support group for the wingless amoungst us. Its ok, really. First thing you have to admit is no truck should have a wing. Once you can admit that its like a huge weight lifted off your shoulders because deep down you know a truck should not have a wing.

negative chuck wing stays stock clutch goes :D thanks mauisrt ill see what info i can get on those three places

Since you have an 04 RC I would start off just the way I started off with my 2nd RC 04 (the red truck).

1. 4.56 Gears with cryoed and polished spider and side gears.
1.2 Drop in air filter
1.3 Shifter
1.4 High temp (Neo 610, ect) brake fluid in the clutch hydraulics
2. Catback exhaust
2.1 Caltracs
3. Computer flash = PCM, programmer/tuner = VEC

I totally disagree with Django!

Jack knows his shit, I just run off at the mouth, and try to learn from my mistakes!

Ask away DevilDog, we are here to learn together.
