Shift light wire HELP

I am installing my shift light. Which wire do you use to splice in with the coil/ignition to get the RPMs? Can you splice into the factory tach? What color wire do I need to locate in which plug/harness?? Thanks in advance for the help:dontknow:

Thanks Bruce! I shoulda asked first. I tried for 2 hours to trace down the correct wire from the coils. Oh well. I will get it done tomorrow. Now I gotta figure out how to run the wire through the firewall! Thanks again.

when I had my first SRT RAM I mounted the shift light inside the air duct, the one to the right of the steering wheel, it was way cool and nobody knew it was there until it came on. Just a suggestion.

That is a "cool" idea! I already have mine mounted in a double pod A-Pillar. It will be bright as hell but I won't miss my shift points for sure! How did you route your green wire through the firewall from there?

I sliped it out of the duct where it slips on to the pastic piece and I found a hole somewhere in the fire wall.
