One thing I think that I sould get is a shift light. I always laughed at people who said they needed them. I always said, listen to the engine, you should know when to shift. Well since the SC install I have two factors contributing to needing the light.

1. Noise, between long tubes, no cats, magnaflow and the noise from under the hood it is harder to tell what is going on
2. The RPMs climb so fast now, well shifting becomes a challenge.

So......

Does anyone know of a SMALL light? Something similar to the Meth light? I would like it to match that light and put it on the pillar.

maybe you can contact raptor and ask for a light that only uses one led instead of 7? the guts would have to be hidden somewhere, but the single light should be able to be mounted anywhere...dont know if its even possible:dontknow:

I have the Raptor and need all of the light I can get.

The engine raps so quickly that I am surprised every time the blue LED's go off!

If you are not watching for it, it will catch you by surprise...suggest you get the full compliment of lights...the only time you will see them is at start up and when racing. I have mine set at 5600, to avoid hitting the rev limiter.

Hmmm, I just checked EBay. There is a setting on them for # of cylinders and no option for a 10. So, is there a different light or does it work even though there is no 10 option? I see it splices into the tach wire, so I am guessing it may not matter????

I think I will give this a try but will try modding it. Probably put the big bulky light inside of the pillar and extend the light to a small LED on the pillar. If it does not work then I guess I mount it somewhere....... Would probably get a new 3 slot pillar, make a face and put it in one hole with just the lights sitcking out and a boost gauge in the other.

For thsoe that have them, does it appear the light can be taken apart so I could possibly do this?

:dito:  You could alter the cap that goes over the light...vs modding the pillar...mine is located on the opposite of the pillar in the pic Roy provided.

where the shift light cable is supposed to be tapped? I mean the "sensor" cable.

where did you also tap the positive wire (ignition key)

thanks

Install is really easy/simple. I used some velcro and attached it behind the steering wheel so when the light comes on its right in my face. There are detailed instructions on the nfff site. Just do a search, great pics too.

I haven't put a shift light on my srt yet but on my dakot rt I put my shift light inside the air dutck behind the vent. I hate the way they look on the dash! You couldn't even tell it was ther untill it lit up. If I put one in my srt that would be were I would hid a normal sized lite.

How Hard is it to install In AC vent?

Not really hard; probably 1-1.5 hours start to finish. I am old and work slow and methodically.

I also put a switch, through the panel under the steering column so I can turn off the power to it when I do not want it on.
This is due to the fact that I cannot get a cover on it any longer.

The switch is not really necessary but kind of cool to have.

The Raptor shift Lights are the way to go, ultra reliable and accurate.

FSTJACK, can you give me more of the information on how to install it in the AC vent? I did trying it before but I couldn't find out how to install it. Thanks.
