can the tach wire be tapped under the dash instead running a wire to the PCM?
Not to my knowledge. I pulled my Raptor wire from the PCM. You need to find one of the coil trigger wires there. I have no idea what signal the tach is reading or what you would need to set the Raptor to in order to get an accurate flash.

Like BigDave said, you gotta run a wire to the pcm. Its no biggie. Its a shame to cut that nice wire jacket that surrounds the wires but.........its gotta be done.

Are there any problems for the Raptor from heating or cooling when installed in the ducting ?

No problems in the duct. The raptor is a very good piece. very well built and bullet proof...........

The install in the duct is easy

Pull the radio surround off, pull straight back carefully untill you think it is going to break (it won't, but be careful) and it will come off.

Drill a hole in the duct for the wires to come through, fish the wires through the side of the duct where you drilled a hole.

Drill a pilot hole in the side of the AC duct for the mounting clip. Drill it on an angle. Clean the inside of the duct and clip mounting area with denatured alcohol. Use double sided tape and a screw to mount the clip, don't over tighten the screw and strip it.

Run wires across the inside of dash to the through firewall gromet area and wire normally.

I wired the power supply side to a switch that I mmounted under the steering column panel so I can turn it off if I want too...........
