I know this has been discussed many times but Im having trouble finding up to date information. So, what is best? Didn't jtsvp make a shifter? Any help would be appreciated.

JTSVP is the only one that makes a shifter for these trucks these days. Other company's no longer produce them so you would have to find a used one. I have the 2nd gen Jtsvp shifter and I love it. So much shorter throw and precise. Good thing about this forum is you will get a lot of opinions everyone likes different ones. Just my 2cents

Stock is fine as long as you keep it off the track.

I have a JTSVP Gen1 and it's a huge improvement over stock. Keep an eye on the classifieds and you can usually find one for under $200, well worth it. I would love a Gen2 but not for a while......

Have you ever missed 3rd with your shifter? Do you race your truck?

I have the GEN2 and its a huge improvement from stock. It makes some noise at higher RPM running in lower gears but good cruising along at 70 in
    5th or 6th gear.

I did pack the ball cup with Mobil 28 high load grease when I installed it.

I do not race my truck either but will not pass up the opportunity to run through the gears if the chance presents itself. Haven't miss a gear.

    Good investment.

I have the b&m in the new truck and stock in the old, The B&M goes into a no where land when hitting 3rd sometimes, not 1st or 5th just in the middle somewhere and gets stuck,,,

if i stick with the T56 i will be trying the tony shifter, but I am leaning another route and its not auto

B&m here and beat run mine hard on the track and highway. When I miss a gear with my b&m it's not the shifters fault. It's always the driver's fault. Practice.

I wouldn't mind trying the gen 2 venom shifter but for $400, my old used b&m shifter does the deed.

I took my stock shifter and removed then bushing in the handle, stacked some washers in it and it works awesome. One thing I have learned having my transmission out 20+ times it that when you install the shifter if you loosen all the bolts a single turn and shift from 2-3 a few times leaving it in third and then tighten it down it really helps.

I removed the bushing a couplke years ago. It worked fine for a good while but then hit a "fake 3rd or a neutral". It will not go in 3rd now under power at all. I think something must have broke inside the shifter cause it never had the fake 3rd before.

JTSVP GenII is by far the best option. Nite & day differance. A bit noisy but tight shift patterns. It also has an adjustable spring setup to dial in pressure for that 3rd gear.
    A bit pricey.......but what else is new.....its for a 10.
