Hey, while most people think this is operator error.. well.. i'm pretty sure it's not :dontknow::D
Let me explain.. Driving home from the gym tonight i was out on backwoods
roads and decided to 'test' out the new pipes see what my SOTP dyno was..
I put her into first and get around 3k RPM's then floor it. soon as i hit 6k i put
my foot down on the clutch and pull it into 2nd.. when i do this i get some gear
grinding :( that crap sounds like nails on chalkboards.. anyways, only been
happening tonight. my first guess is my syncros are going but at the same time
it only happens in the 1 to 2 i can do WOT from 2 to 3 and i have no problems..:dontknow:

any ideas?

A little strange...no problem in normal shifting?

Maybe a good opportunity to buy Boomers Gen X shifter!!!!

Then if that doesn't solve the problem go for the syncro's...at least it would be a good excuse to get the new shifter!

Hhaha, i kinda need to save what i got for college man! :D i REALLY want to buy
it but what can i say? two weeks then i'm off and i won't see my truck till thanksgiving :'(
But yeah, no problems shifting anywhere else just the 1st to 2nd under WOT..
i couldn't think of why it would do that so i figure i would ask here... :D

If it doesn't do it in normal driving also, chances are it's related to the hydraulics.

mine has always done this. if you rev it at a stop, with the clutch down, in first gear, the truck will start moving. for some reason when the rpm's get higher, it makes the clutch grab lower, thus when you shift at real high rpm's, it does not fully disengage. i think it has something to do with centrifical force, and the fact our throw out bearing are hydralic.

Hmm... i have the Viper metal slave and master upgrade... is there anything better?

if your truck moves when its in gear with the clutch in IT IS NOT NORMAL! that is the problem i have been fighting replaced the hydraulics 3 TIMES! and still the same thing,,, turned out the clutches and pressure plate and fly wheel were glazed!! i completely ruled these compoents out because they only had 300 miles on them! but after replacing the cutch and pressure plate and scuffing the fidanza flywheel with 220 grit sand paper it has been trouble free! and no longer rolls foward while the clutch is engaged and giving it throttle... Just my 2 cents:)

i have the same issue when my first clutch was starting to go....... no, you don't need another shifter, the syncro's are probably damaged.... with the clutch & viper cylinders, it doesn't grind anymore - but it's definetly rougher going into 2nd gear......

Try shifting at 5300 to 5500 RPMs, if your engine is stock things are going to work much better in this range.

Werde, you're not making any power beyond that point, just making noise. . . I've found that my truck pulls harder in the next gear if I shift right at 5500. I've managed a squeak out of 4th a time or two (on cold pavement and cool tires :D)

A squeak out of 4th:dontknow: How fast were you going:D

That particular time, I couldn't tell ya, but I know 3rd @5500RPM I'm right at 90MPH :D

i'll try that next time... i know after about 5500 RPM's you start to loose power
it's just hard to get the shift points down when all you want to do is go! lol..
