So recently, when I shift the truck under hard acceleration it seems to be significantly harder to shift. Normal driving is perfectly fine, but the hard acceleration it almost seems to stick and not want to the shift.

I have a JTSVP shifter that I have yet to install, but I'm actually a bit nervous about installing it as I don't know if pulling the shifter is going to cause more issues or not.

Is the issue the shifter or is there a transmission problem that I should know about and maybe get ready to take care of?

Could just need the hydraulics bled.

^^^ try this first before someone tries to talk you into rebuilding the transmission and replacing parts.

I'm in need of an oil change here soon so I guess I'll get that done as well. Hopefully it makes a difference.

It usually helps a ton. I'd have it flushed and all new fluid put in and bled. Condensation in these systems WILL ruin a slave if it gets below freezing. Mine blew in 18 degrees last January.
