Not that this really matters to anyone here but to me it's been an ongoing dilemma between the beast and I.
I wasn't going to buy a new clutch or hydraulics just because a tech guy at the dealership tells me I need a new one. But given my shudder problems, I almost believed it too. But I just had a 'feeling' it was something else, but wasn't even sure what! The peddle felt stiff, and engaged alright. But having no knowledge of how it is meant to be, I couldn't know different.
After slowly getting the majority of the trucks parts leaking fixed, I decided to take the truck out to an empty parking lot and try "stop and go's" over and over to see when it shuddered more. After knowing the truck more and more since taking it under my wings, I've become more aware of how it reacts to my driving. I started seeing a pattern.. of how when the truck reaches running temperature, the clutch peddle seems ..softer.. but when the truck is cold, it's stiffer! ..interesting..
So now I think I got a good idea after researching all the know-how of brake fluids, bleeding procedures, temperatures, parts. Which I'm thankful for VTCOA is here. It's the basis of all things good to the health of the truck.
So I started looking around town for some Motul 600 or alternate of same specs. I tried every auto parts shop in town and not one carried Motul 600, or even heard of it! They had other brands of Dot 4 and 5.1, but did not come close the WBP of Motul 600! So I tried the Harley-Davidson shop and they had some High Temperature Dot 4.
After flushing out the old fluid and bleeding out the line, to my amazement... I now had 3/4-1" of travel on my clutch peddle. Before I had near 3 inches!!! Gotta love Dealerships, they just don't treat other vehicles like their own vehicles.
So... I went back to the parking lot and decided to do "stop and go's" again. And to my amazement, it didn't shudder at all! I'm fortunate for now, as more than likely, I will too sometime be needing to upgrade, but for now I'm going to let it die on it's own, naturally.
Here's a vid. of the truck. Be nice.
