Anyone know why our 10's sound so bad with straight pipes and the old v-8's sound so good? :dontknow: Gotta be an explanation, logical one I hope. :D

firing order, number of cylinders, size of cylinders, number of cylinders, etc.

Always wondered myself, all brands have different firing orders so I'm thinking it has more to do with bore size and number of cylinders, although I don't know why the number of cylinders would matter

Never heard a 600 cubic inch 4 cylinder. .............

Carberator makes a big difference in sound. One reason why so many old cars sound mean and are not also. But all the above statements go along also

yeah but the sucking air sound of a carb is different from the rumble of the exhaust, after i put the 6pak on my charger it still sounded badd ass:D

In 4-stroke engine, each cylinder needs to fire once per every two revolutions. In a cross plane V8, this means that a firing event occurs every time the crankshaft moves 90 degrees.

Our V10's are a little different because each cylinder still needs to fire once per two revolutions, but can't do it in 90 degree intervals (90 degrees X 10 cylinders doesn't equal 720 degrees of rotation). So, the Viper V10 has a firing event at 90 and 54 degrees. This creates an uneven buzzing type exhaust note.

Weird at first but it grows on you. I say forged & cam sounds better. My girl said stock sounds better. You will get used to it or sell the truck.
