Simple Politeness: Post "hoe'ing"

Well, in my personal opinion....everyone should be allowed to have one. I support the Forum, so therefore I support all of you here. Do I think the Post-Ho'ing is a little out of hand....Maybe. I do think I posted some rules to follow to be a Post-Ho for the new Ho's....we will police our own.

Y'all know I am very passionate about some things here...and I wish I could participate more in the Mods section or the Do-it-yourself section. However, I have very little money and my knowledge of cars extends as far as gassing and going. And I cant even do that right now. :(

If it weren't for this place, I would have nothing to do. Since I get home bone tired from work and I am in a new place. This place keeps my mind from stressing....thats why I Ho. Just my.50 cents.:dontknow: :D

And I know I'm annoying, you've met me in person Mike.:p :p :p
Annoying yes you are. But to be honest with you Kris......I would step in front of a bullet for you Bro...You and your family mean that much to my family :D

I know, and I want people like Kevan, Anthony and anybody else on here to know that I would do anything I possibly can to help them.. I'm not just about getting my post count up, to be honest...I havent even looked at it for a few weeks until today when I saw this thread.:dontknow:

Taken from the Post Ho thread...

But some of you Ho's need to learn to stay off of the Performance threads and the serious ones, unless you have something relevant to add....I am bad at throwing my Ass all over as well......So as a team of Ho's we should all use some decorum and discretion It sure wouldn't hurt to try anyway

That's what I'm NOT talking about: Forum Nazis.
No one wants that.

What I'm talking about is the same thing SilentD initially posted about: members reeling themselves in. A little self-control goes a LONG way. I mean, there are (3) threads dedicated to post-ho'ing. That's f-ing sad.

The two guitar forums I listed were simply examples. I'm an Admin on one, and a regular member on the other. ProjectGuitar is pretty tight, but certainly not tight-assed. They're simply focused on what they are there for.
SevenString.org members would put the F-word thread here to shame. They've come up with some stuff what would make your Semper-Fi ass blush. Again, not tight-assed.
Call it nirvana if you want, but they are both fine examples of online forums.

Don't fool yourself. It is anarchy. There is no law here.

Would I take a bullet for you? Sure. I've been shot before (in the face). I could probably do it again.
Like you, I enjoy the family atmosphere, the jokes and the comradere. I don't want this place to turn into a board meeting more than anyone else does. Besides....we already have that. It's called the VCA. :D

Wanna be a better poster? Ok. We'll start small and work our way up:
- Don't post 'back to back'. This means posting immediately after your last post (plenty examples available). If you have something to add, use the EDIT button and put it in that previous post.
That's one small thing that everyone can, and should, do.
More tips available upon request.

If the members regulate themselves, there's no need for an 'iron fist'.

Sounds good to me, I think you posted something like that earlier this week. I'll put it to good use.:)

Initially I was reluctant in saying anything here because I am unsure if I am butting in on a conversation between adults. Far be it from me to come off as rude and disruptive. I don't know if I'm ever considered to have anything useful to contribute or if I am even taken seriously because I don't get a sizable amount of replies to my posts and threads as much as many others here (an many of THOSE threads generated start off meaningless without following the traditional “bulletin board†style posts). For this reason I am guilty of silly and meaningless "off the wall" comments to TRY and fit in. That’s my little way of being recognized because I’ve discovered that by simply being friendly it isn’t enough for a lot of people here. But what I say in response to some threads serves another purpose that is important to ME. I'm a natural smart ass and whatever flows from my mind (meaningless or not) makes me giggle as I write them so my day may seem that much brighter by being here. Keep in mind that by doing that I am guilty of assuming someone will respond and make me feel as if I am not just some useless rock that's been here for so long (hence the member number). Time and time again I say something only to be overshadowed by a change in topic or my post was the last of a suddenly dead thread. The bottom line is I am frequently ignored for whatever reason (and I KNOW I'm not the only one here feeling that way). If my member number was in the 90's with over 5,000 posts either I’d be guilty of blathering, doing a bit of post ho’ing or have absolutely nothing to do. So which s it? I KNOW Mikey is an admitted post ho as well as Denise.

To many I might sound like a complainer right now (which is totally out of character) and there are some here that I do consider a great person/friend to know and have a phone number for, but I am fed up because once again I am brought to feel as if I don’t belong here… It’s no wonder I disappear for lengthy periods....

If it makes you feel any better Anthony, I like you and your contributions.

New Program ! ! ! ! ! ! WHO IS GOING TO BE THE FIRST ? ? ?

I have been reading this morning and what I see is a man (Tim) that offered a great sollution to an issue that has gotten out of control. But even this profered idea has been HOED UP. I am going to put everyone on notice that I will start putting people on moderation if the hoing continues.
Moderation means that Patrick, Bob or myself will have to approve everything anyone posts before it is allowed to go on the board. I think that by the time someone is moderated they are beyond help. There is really no hope for them to make a decent forum member out of themselves.

I personally will not go out of my way to moderate anyone's posts and may find the time to do it once a week,
What that means boys and girls is your post will sit in cyberspace for a long itme before anyone looks at it, to decide if it is fit for view.

As Tim stated we have a section for hoing and that's great. So use it and don't HO up a legitimate thread.

Who is going to be the first to go on the moderation list.

Recently I've noticed that the forum has become fraught with impudence.

Like children butting in when the adults are talking, many of us have been guilty of chiming into topics in the most innane manner... (with comments that are just downright off the wall.......You know....silly and meaningless)....It's as if some members consider this a "free for all" or chat room rather than more of a "bulletin board" as it is intended (to be).

This juvenile brand of "ho'ing" really is a detrament to our forum and family here.....

The reason for this behavior may simply be that this family is so accepting of one another that we feel more welcome to "jump in" whenever we want to.... And while our great family atmosphere makes this more understandable, I submit that this behavior is both rude and disruptive ......

Let's offer more courtesy to others and "butt out" of conversations in which we have NOTHING to contribute and confine our blatherings to the Post Ho, F Word, or Bullshit threads where they belong....

Whadd'ya say, kids....? :dontknow: ......Let's show some class..........

D

Okay, guilty as charged.:(

I know there are times when someone posts something and my wacked sense of humor goes off. But then I do the same thing in real life.

Probably the worst thing I'm guilty of is I'm the instigater (or however the hell you spell it) of these things. I start it and then others join in.

I pledge to do better in the future, and I hope you return soon my friend.

I personally do not let the hoe-ing bother me. I understand why it happens but it can be frustrating to actually find valid information on this site without it being trashed out in the first 10 posts of a new thread. It is just one of the things we have to live with. For all the hoe-ing that does go on there are still threads with great information.

Not trying to be a dickweed or anything but:
What constitutes ho-ing a thread? Is it changing the direction of a topic?
I was part of the old site....never did get it there, don't understand it here.
Maybe I don't follow threads deep enough to see what happens.
I know I have a little over 1000 post, none really have anyting of value...so are those considered ho-ing the threads.
I went back to read the rules...and must have missed the description of ho-ing
I did see where in June of 06 FstJack said we were doing a good job at not being ho's....what changed?
I guess what I really want to know is am I considered a post Ho ? I am being honest when I say, I didn't and don't think that I am. Smart a$$ at times yes, love to add pic's to illustrate a point, guilty as charged.
I think of myself as the networks color man....not the play by play guy. Have people like myself outstayed our welcome.....I am very honest in my question and statements....I would hope that any responce would be in the same light
Thanks guys

Hey Y'all,

My purpose in posting this was simple... I apologize if my statement became convoluted.

In a nutshell: If patrick or anyone else comes on and makes an announcement on a certain topic, it is inappropriate for some one to post a reply that sez, "My weenie's wet"......or "who's up for baloney sandwiches?"..... That's all.

How simple can this get....

John, (Silver) Your contribution to the technical aspects of this forum is stellar and to my memory, beyond reproach. And I certainly did NOT have you in mind when it posted it.

It was simply meant to admonish our great crew to knock off the silly blurts and meaningless comments within the context of "non-ho" threads..... This doesn't apply to "Don Ho" threads (haha)...

Just keep the stoopid, innane (off the topic) stuff out'a there.....

Dat be all..........:D

You my friend have more quality posts than most, because you usually have something to offer

Besides that, your color work is very much appreciated by a lot of us

"Out Stay your Welcome"...What? are you kidding me. You have brought more smiles in my home than you know.

So, as honest as I can get......

Your doing just fine, keep up the good work

My comments weren't directed at you either, bro.....

God bless ya....

I can give you a hint.........

Now you know why I'm guilty more than most. But, I am smart enough to learn and try to do better. We can only hope the same for others. But I will only name myself
