Simple Politeness: Post "hoe'ing"

I am a post ho (incase anyone hadn't noticed) ;) but I try and respect the technical threads and not ho them up. I think the jist of the problem is with people taking every topic off topic and no one ever gets the answers they were looking for to start with.  :dontknow: :D

I believe the person who starts a thread should be able to "moderate and regulate" their own thread so Jack and Pat don't have to do it. The thread starter could/should go through and delete the unnecessary posts (in the thread starters opinion) so their thread stays on topic. I thought that feature was available for the person starting the thread, but if not, maybe something like that could be implemented to help with the problem. :dontknow:

Another idea might be to charge an extra membership fee for the priviledge of accessing the Technical threads (just like the membership fee now lets us access the arcade and special email and extra pm space, etc) Then if an offending member accesses and posts in that Technical section and it is not in compliance with the "posting rules" (which would be ZERO tolerance for smart remarks, crude comments, going off topic, etc.) they would be banned from posting in that portion of the forum.

I personally believe the only people who would pay "extra" to access the "Technical areas" are probably NOT post hos to start with since most post hos are admittedly and obviously technically challenged :star:

Just my 2.98 worth :D :dancing: :star:

Wait a second here....

Just because I don't know which end of a wrench to use on a screw doesn't mean I don't like to learn. No extra fee.... please

But I do like the idea of being able to mod your own thread

(and Jeff, the big end of the wrench goes on the small end of the screw ;))

Self regulation is the best method. Simply stated, the person who starts the thread should be able to regulate the contents of their thread by having the ability of deleting inappropriate posts.

1) This would save immense amounts of bandwidth
2) save the admins and mods alot of trouble
3) stop 98% of the offending garbage (in the threadstarters opinion).
4) Would give the threadstarter the responsibility to manage and maintain the quality of the thread they started. Again, saving the admins and mods a whole lot of trouble.

Each person has different opinions of what is good input and what is bad input, the thread starter would be the sole judge since it is his thread. Any members who disagree could pm the thread starter with any questions as to why his/her post was deleted.....

This sounds like alot of trouble, but why should the Admins/Mods have to get all the PM's, calls and emails about thread stomping and taking a thread off topic when the thread starter could handle it him/herself.

my other .02 ...............  :D :dontknow:

I think it is one of those things that sounds real good in theory, but would not work very well in real life.

People would get pissed because someone deleted their post for what they felt was unjust reasons.
