Hello....My name is Jordan and i'm new to these kickass viper trucks. My buddy has one and i'm going to build a big single turbo setup for him. I will be going with the s400 turbo. What is everyone using for fueling on these trucks. I'd like to stay away from the aftermarket fuel management units like Speedpro, Gen 7, Big Stuff, etc. I want to stick with a "piggy back" setup like possibly reflashing the ecm and running an adj. fuel pressure regulator. WHat size are the injectors on these trucks? If I get a good fuel combo, I might make a kit for my brothers 99 GTS.

I used to build turbo kits for mustangs and build choppers for a living so I can handle the fabricating part quite easily. Does anyone know where I can get the header -> head flanges from? I would hate to resort to machining them on my cnc machine.

thanks for any help,
Jordan

I would sugjest building the engine up as well, with only a few pounds of boost you will be well over 650 rwhp, then you will need pistons, and at 800 or so you need to build the bottom end.

sounds like he wants to do it as cheap as possible, its only 10k when ya blow the motor!

No problem there...I have plenty of stainless bends laying around. ;)
Yeah he's wanting me to build his motor for him too. I told him I was gonna charge him for materials plus 2k for the turbo kit. I figured the total would be around 6-7k, which is still way less than the cheapest kit i've seen.

thanks

haha you cant get all the parts for 6 or 7 k

The only thing that is in question is the fueling setup. I'll post pics and total money spent to see how much it really ends up being.

there is a single set up allready fabbed up minus turbo on ebay that they mocked up on my truck for $500, in the beggining it was around $6000 then they kinda went bankrupt.

but your fuel system should consist of at least 65lb injectors, so there is around $1000, you need fuel rails, another $500, then an fittings, connectors and hose, another $500, you need a fuel pump, at least a aeroquip eliminator or pro series, another $600or so, as far as a piggy back, the AEM is most popular, but by the time its installed and wired your looking at $3000, or you could go with the SCT. you cant flash the stock pm enough to work with a turbo set up.

then ya gonna need a boost controller, another $400, to keep the boost below 5lbs, the stock pistons will not take much more than that with a turbo, one spike, and #3 pistion lets go

You also need someone with a viper history to tune it, the viper motor isnt a ford or a chevy (I get so tired of saying that) it doesnt tune the same or build the same , unlike any other engine, so your gonna need someone to tune it.

been there , been thru it, and honeslty it isnt worth the hassle,

unless you got the money to send it to heffner or underground, your just gonna end up with a ton of money in something that gives you tons of headaches.

oh but wait!........you gonna need a dual disc clutch to handle all that killer power, another $2000, a new rear axle for when the spiders blow out, another $3600, a forged bottom end, rods $2000, pistions $1800, main caps $800, machine work $1000, head bolts, rod bolts, main bolts another $500
intercooler $1500

all in all you could jusst do the smart thing, send it to Justin, for 15k hand him the keys, save yourself some headache, go back, pick it up, drive home.

been there, done this, want return.........

He probably needs to spend a little time looking up all the blown motor threads too!

He could just save himself the trouble of explaining a detonation to his friend

eeeeek!

Yep, that 'bout sums it up

Also gives me an idea of what I'd be looking for should I get the 71000 mile truck at BJ Motors. I did see a silver '04 with 48,xxx miles for just over 20k (20,995 I think).

We're not looking for 1k rwhp, the turbo we're going with won't even support that. 65lb injectors at .5bsfc are maxed out at 1300 hp (a rough estimate). How big are the stockers? He'd be happy with low boost and stock motor. How much power can the stock clutch take? I just ran a quick list off in my head:
turbo $600-700
wastegate $450
stainless header complete with v-bands, flanges, etc $1000 max
downpipe, exhaust without muffler $250
air/air bar/plate core $500
air/air end tank fabbing $50
cold side alum piping $200

And the rest is spent on fueling/tuning, which I know is costly.

keep the info coming guys!

thanks
Jordan

On a side note, I just finished making this emblem for the front of his truck. What do you guys think?

the stock injectors are 33 or 38 cant remember, You can also cut cost by getting an in tank system from Justin, and keep the stock fuel rails and lines
, but bo, trust me , a couple dozen motors went up in smoke at 5lbs or more with turbos on a stock engine, the sc'rs dont have that effect for some reason.so please use a controller

oh and the stock clutch cant handle the stock motor!LOLOLOLOL

you will need a centerforce set up or a southbend set up

Recoil here ya go, save yourself some time and money

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/dodg...011QQitemZ320248716206QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW

it was originally on my truck , fabbed up by pro turbo in san antonio tx, the ebayer is probably still them just under another name.

but the welding is good, the pipin is good, the coating kinda sux, it fades off kinda quick, but other than that it goes all the way to the cat back if I remember correctly

it has 16 hours to go, if ya could get it for $500 it sure would save some time and money bro, and seriously my truck was used for the fabbin on the twin and single set up, not just pullin ya chain bo
