Slippin tranny.............

Jay, sorry to hear that you have lost the trans. But if it is going to be covered under warranty then you have made a case with the dealer for the best solution.

How long do they think it will take to complete the repairs?

sorry.. don't know.. anybody has a 6speed conversion in a QC ? :dontknow: is this even possible :dontknow: :dontknow:

yeah :elefant: :elefant: it would make the QC's faster and more out of the grocerygetter atmosphere.... :p :p :p :p :p

As I recall the rear of the block is very different and cannot be married to a Tremec...for some reason it would take a huge amount of machine work...

by god no Roy... they would need a RC engine to ! :p :D :D :D :D

it will be a few days, they didn't have the part and like I said they are not going to fix it correctly. A vlv body doesn't slip alittle then just not hold a gear. They will be fixing it again.

I plan on bringing it back to them a few hours after i get it back from the vlv body replacement and band adjustment.......................... They will fix it right.

Hang tough Jay...I think you will eventually get satisfaction.

While you are at it mention that Lifetime warranty that they are now offering on all but the SRT's...

Roy

I would think that the bell part of the block/tranny connection would be the only difference..I cant see them using a different crank input, etc..The mounting might have to be worked out differently..
Im sure it could be done..QC to RC conversion..The cost is probly the only inhibiting factor..Trans, bellhousing, clutch setup, shifter, drive shaft?..dunno..could be done, but is it worth it?

we'll see on monday... if it doesn't sound good or cost too much.. I will just spend more for the stinker special.. or work on getting a built T56 for it:D ... I miss the ripstick anyway.... and yes I know it'll be slower....

Sorry for Hijacking the thread...but what was the outcome...?

Many people have said that this tranny goes out because its a diesel tranny speced to the gas high reving engine.........

True it is in the Diesel but the 48re is a 727, one of the most durable trannies ever, with a overdrive atatched...................

the 48re was made Cummins proof buy adding the billet parts and what not. Again it's weak point is the valve body, the gov solenoid, the first band and the 5.0 lever, needs to be the 4.2 unit.................

727's were built to live behind the elephant motors

What parts do you need?

www.htstransmission.com has all the parts for some major hp........ talk to dusty

guys I'm only talking about them because the owner is a very nice and good man.

Ok y'all they got my vlv body in and the door repainted, and say it will be ready tomorrow! I told him I'll be back to get it fixed right very soon! :)

So How long will Ike's tranny last?

Outcome is a 3K rebuild bill... which I'm not going to do

Barry... I'm pretty sure a Tremec in a QC would make it go slower especially with my granny ass shifting :D .... besided I'd do it, if I didn't think it'd be 10K worth of parts/labor

well it is tomorrow and i get the call................

hello jay, sorry to tell you but.................. i butt in "you didnt fix it and youve got to replace the band...................."

him....... yes:)

and i didnt say i tol yoy so:)

Well I talked to dusty and with my HP he seems to believe that all I need is a loose dealer overhaul, a 4.2 lever 25$ a servo blocker 15$ and a Ultimate duty valve body 390$.

My wife put the brakes on the valve body, but she let me get the lever an the servo block.

I sure hope they install it.....................
