That was pretty intense.. but it was probly the most awsome thing to see in person

Even if the seatbelt/airbags stop your body from moving forward, all your internal organs keep moving forward at 70mph and smash into the inside of your chest cavity. Same thing happens to your brain inside your skull. Externally you can be mostly OK, but have massive internal injuries.

MBenz dealer down the street is suppossed to start selling Smarts I think - good luck at $14-20k

I want to see how well it reacts to somthing a little higher (ie: running into a truck or SUV). Those cars appear to be pretty low.:dontknow:

thats how dale died.

Um, not quite. Although the autopsy findings were never released in full, basil skull fracture is the most commonly accepted cause of his death (not uncommon in racing). Seatbelt failure was speculated, but later thrown out.

The blunt force trauma to the soft internal tissues is what generally kills when you have such severe deceleration, followed by breakage of the cervical spinal area with brain stem trauma.

This footage also seems to have shown the vehicles striking the barrier at a slight angle, allowing some of the kinetic energy to be transferred into sideways motion. Although if you were in these vehicles, you'd probably be pushing up daisies anyway.

Damn... i had no idea.. i'm not a big fan of extreme gore pictures etc.. but i've come
across a few in my day and it seems that everything is pretty dam packed in there..
so from what i understand while your body stops, the insides of your body keeps
moving.. sounds intense..

Dale died because he improperly routed his saftey belts. Nascar knew this, but Dale was Dale and did what he wanted. There was a huge cover-up by Nascar. His belts were improperly routed and thus they did not work properly. He routed his lap belt up and over the seat vs. through the seat....it was more comfortable for him that way.
