I am thinking about adding 2 sleds to the toy list for my house in Vermont.

I would like to buy used. Does anyone have any insight into what brand to go with, how many miles is to many, what is a good price, other things to look for and know. etc...

Call Boomer.............

I used to own a Bombardier, SkiDoo MXZ 700! Awesome sled for trail riding!! I highly recommend the SKiDoo line of machines.

Didn't buy used but I know there are always plenty of used ones around. High mileage on a snowmobile is somewhere around 2000, IMO. I would look for something that is only a couple of years old and expect to pay around 2-3.5K ea. Again, JMO

Always had Polaris machines. Did have a Yamaha two speed, got rid of that junk. Dad also had an Arctic Cat. Didn't last long either. My fav sled was an old Polaris TX 440. Had the ice cleat bars across the track. What a machine. Had a few TXL Indy's and a Centurion when they first came out. What a screamer!!!

Call the guys at MAD RIVER ROCKET. ask for Whitney....he can fix you up with whatever you need.We build his Killer B and Stinger equipment in Ohio. He is in Vermont, and is one crazy Polking ( Sled ) guy. But has leads on all types of motorized snow equipment.....he is your one stop guru.......you should see him going down the river during the spring. Tell him Tom Bryant sent you.....it won't help, but tell him I said hey.

Those are some nice sleds, I am heading up in October, I may run upto Warren and see if I can meet with Whitney. I see a Mad River Rocket in my future (along with at least one trip to the ER!!)

Thanks for the lead.

Been a while since I had a sled, last one was a John Deere Liquifire, that was a badass machine at the time. Before that I had a Rupp LOL.

My last snowmobile was a 92 Yamaha 750 V-Max 4. Last sled before that was a Polaris 340 Colt. I think that was a mid to late 70's machine. Damn, they advanced a little bit in that time. I can only imagine what they are like now.

My MXZ 700 would do 105 on good hard pack! My ex-brother-in-law has an 800 that does 120!!! And the ride is awesome!

That is nuts, bailing at that speed on hard pack is not an option..

Well, silly! You don't fall off of them when they are going that fast!! I prefer not to fall off at all!

Actually, for all the times I hauled cookies on that sled, I rolled it going about 10 Mph. Going down a steep hill and hit a patch of ice, machine got sideways and then caught the track on the snow! That sucked plenty$$!

I know you are not SUPPOSED to fall off them going that fast, it is just that sometimes $hit happens.. :)

Came off mine at just a little over a 100. I'm just to damn competitive. That is when I decided to sell it.
