So a friend asks me about my power to weight ratio

Friend asks me what my power to weight ratio is in a discussion about some drag racing next friday night. I tell him what it is and compare against a few other sports cars. Heres what I came up with, feel free to yours or add more cars if you know or have read articles on them:

2005 Ford GT - 3391/550 = 6.16
2006 Corvette Z06 - 3130/500 = 6.26
my '04 SRT Ram supercharged = 5100/790 = 6.45
1999 Dodge Viper - 3380/450 = 7.51
2007 Shelby Cobra - 3896/500 = 7.79
2001 Corvette Z06 - 3115/385 = 8.09
2000 Porsche Turbo - 3400/415 = 8.19
2000 Ferrari 360 Modena - 3241/395 = 8.21
1999 Porsche GT3 - 2975/360 = 8.26
1995 Corvette ZR-1 - 3535/405 = 8.73
2004 Mustang Cobra - 3665/390 = 9.39
1999 Corvette C5 Coupe - 3250/345 = 9.42
2000 Porsche Boxter S - 2855/250 = 11.4
2007 Subaru Impreza STi - 3351/293 = 11.43
2000 Audi TT - 2655/225 = 11.8
2000 BMW M Roadster - 2899/240 = 12.1

There's something about your numbers that puzzles me.....

Perhaps I'm a mathematical moron.........

I don't see how some of those numbers jive at all...............

Especially the comparison between the 2 'Vettes......

Call me stupid..................But they don't look right to me......

His calculations appear to be correct. ;)
 
I did searches on some car sites and official releases to get most of the numbers. With me and 1/4-1/2 tank of gas in the truck it weighed 5090 pounds. I'm about 115 skinny pounds myself.

I think the unoffical numbers for the '08 Viper put it ahead of mine.

The first number is the weight of the vehicle. The second number is the horsepower of the vehicle. Take the big number and divide it by the little number and it should equal the result number :D Which is the weight/horsepower ratio.

Horsepower to pounds of vehicle = the ratio

I even checked it on a calculator :dontknow:

Stick to english and lay off the green cigars ;) ;)

well it is an election year....numbers are going tobe all over the place...:D

ex...Dave ....despite anything they may write...the drivetrain loss for your truck with the 6 speed is 12-13%.....your flywheel hp is aprox 790

and if you are going to use the official curb weight for other cars you should should use the offcial weight for your truck....5100

5100/790 = 6.45

Picky, Picky, he used the various weights of the various cars divided by the various horsepowers to come up with the various ratios which are mathematically correct according to the constants provided in his post :p :D :star:

I bet Hilary can even figure that one out :eek:

That seems fair. I was basing my 845 on Joe Donovans dyno numbers with 702 at the rear wheels. I guess I can live for 3rd place given the competition :) You however would be well in front :)

I get it now.... These figures represent lbs per hp...not hp per lb....

702 x 1.13= 793:D


I have no Idea anymore what a QC weighs...?....I have heard 5450-5950....:dontknow: ..my last rwhp number was 902
 
Supertanks outweigh quadcabs by tons ;) :D

5691 lbs w/ 1100 (approx) flywheel... 5.17 lbs per HP (curb - dry / without you & paxton / nitrous / addition extras)

I'm assuming an extra 500lbs (conservative) for fluids, you, paxton, nitrous stuff, etc..

so 5691 = 5.62

who knows....:D

drivetrain loss on a QC - 15%.....yes I have added weight with the paxton and Nos...but the new axle is 100lbs lighter....and at the track the drag slicks weigh 60lbs lighter than the stockers....we need a scale....:D

my QC weighed 5750 according to the scale at LACR...

my isuzu weighs 2100 according to the scale at LACR

2100 % 450hp = 4.7 (usless FWD power to weight ratio)
