So who's gonna do the next N/A build?

Was talking to Justin and Joe last night a little bit. Joe has some ideas on cam profiles for the next N/A truck build. Will be interesting to see how well the next one does.

My prediction is that it will be a serious torque monster with the curve spread out even more than mine. Mine makes over 500 ft pounds from 3400 to 5500 rpms. I think he'll hit 500 ft pounds even earlier in the band and hold it longer with the next one.
 
They should .. mine did .. click im dyno sheet in the bottom of my sig.. that is my stock runs .... and its holding damm close to 500 around 3500 but drops off around 4700 or so.. so this cam profile is just holding it a lil longer which would be nice.... my stock TQ was 512.1 /// Hp 468.8 .. thats dynoed at sea level
 
Outta curiousity Tim what should one expect to pay for something like this??? :confused:
 
with the right setup, in a truck, one could see around 600hp and the same in torque. it will cost the same money to do this, as adding a blower, but NA is very cool. we have Doneo's truck here now and we are doing it all NA, and our target goal is over 600. we have hit this in the cars before, no sweat with stock bottem ends, just head and valve train work, but the car's drivetrain isnt as parasitic as the truck with the Dana rear end, heavy 22" wheels and a long drive shaft etc.

My Qc Makes 481 Ftlbs At the wheels with just a stage 2 and K and N. With Mids and a Catback I should be at about 510Ftlbs. And I would Love to have a High 11's N/A Qc:rock: :rock: any tips on that

My torque curve get's way higher and sooner and holds it flat and strong all the way across.

It depends on what mods you already have. If you already have all the basic bolt ons you are looking at prolly 5-6K.

600 would be awesome. It would have to be a heck of a build to do it with stock bottom end and would (IMO) require either Stryker heads or a full port and polish (5K to 6K). I have the basic port and polish on mine (about 2K). I'd love to see it done. Good luck to you and Doneo!

Since I'm at the west coast, I would have to ask Dan at DC about a high HP n/a build. Probably would involve Exotic Engine Development to blueprint the motor as well. 600 HP would not be unlikely, although the power loss from the engine to the wheels is a little more than 15%. :(

I am planning to extrrude hone the intake manifold, the 900 price tag is kinda high though. I am planning to do as much as I can myself before handing it over to get head/internal engine work.

You might talk to Joe. He may be more cost effective than that. He port matched my intake runners. He has talked about opening up an intake completely and doing a full port job thru and thru.

I cant see that happining, just because of the number of runners you would have to cross-section. Although it would probably be interesting to see how that would turn out.

I think he's talking about cutting the top off and then you could work the runners from both ends.

He was finally able to get my runners ported all the way in but it took some work (which is why Extrude Hone gets $900). With the top off you could also work on the upper half too.:dontknow:
 
Hey tim, you get your clutch put in? I would love to let joe experiment with my truck but girlfriend wants a ring first:D

Yep,
Put it in last night. Gotta get those break in miles done now and it's killing me. :eek: I've been going to every local place I can think of today. It's all I can do to keep my foot out of it. :D
 
Tim I visited Joe a few weeks ago and I have been really thinking about having Joe put a very aggressive cam in for me. I like the numbers my truck put down already and think with a Joe designed cam and having him tune my VEC I can put down some good numbers to the ground.

I tried to contact him cause I am interested but havent heard back from him yet.

With Striker street heads and the comp coupe cam, my engine was just shy of 620 pound feet before 5000 RPM. That's with a REDUCED compression ratio of 9:1, and essentially stock displacement. I don't think an HP N/A build should be without these heads. I doubt anyone could make stock heads flow like these without spending seriously stupid money, not like the Strikers are cheap themselves though...

With the flow distribution ills that have been discovered with the GENIII intake, you'd just be polishing a turd. The gains would be pathetic for the time and money spent, and you still have its inherent problems. Find yourself a cheap GENII intake, or nut up for a Hogan's Racing manifold.

I agree completely. If you have the money for Strykers, that's how to get the big numbers. :rock:
