Some People - Lotus Elise

Came out of the grocery store last night to see a small group of people standing around a brand new bright orange Lotus Elise. I walked over to get a closer look and asked who the owner was. It was what looked to be an 18 year old kid. He opened the door to let me take a look inside and not having kept up these little sports cars I asked how much horsepower it was. He didn't know. He knew it had a four cylinder but knew nothing else about the car.

If your going to own and drive a $40 some thousand dollar car, shouldn't you know more about it then where the gas cap is? I came home and looked it up. He's only got 190bhp but it's in such a light package his performance numbers look like ours. 0-60 4.9sec. top speed 150. He does get better gas mileage though.

But can't carry more than a 6-pack.

I came along side of one on the highway during one of my road trips. Cool little vehicles, but not for me.

BTW- I'll bet ya he knew the HP, but was embarrassed to say it aloud.

I meet with a local group of guys, one who has a factory supercharged one. He let me sit in it...it isn't bad, just bare minimums (no comfy seats, etc..), and it is very hard to get in and out of since the seats are on the floorboard.

I guy I went to school with had a supercharged one. Said it was one of the first ones in the US:dontknow: Those things are like a go kart on roids

Later on I heard some guy in a lifted truck just squashed that thing like a pancake

It's a fiberglass body on an aluminum frame. Curb weight is under 2K lbs. It only has a 10.6 gallon fuel tank. It has a shorter range than our trucks. I ran into him again today and informed him of the HP rating on his car. He's Mr. popular with his peers right now. Everyone's hanging around him to see his car.
