That they tried to steal it last night.... :(

I have nothing too special, just a '06 GMC Sierra SLE 4WD 1/2 ton. It has been parked off to the side pretty much in a snow bank to let other family members have a parking spot near the entry way to my girlfriends. Went out this morning and the steering column was in pieces. Thankfully, there was nothing else to steal.

This is the second time in less then six months someone has tried to steal it...

On the good news, autopac (we only have one insurance and its public) has covered the deductable, cost of a loaner vehicle amd the additional cost of a immobilzer. Not that it will stop anyone from trying....

Sorry to vent, it has been a long day trying to get this worked out. Props to the insurance, the city police and the towing company. They were great to work with.

sorry about the truck, but glad to hear about it being taken care of,and you can vent here anytime.

Thanks Brat, I appreciate it. At least no one was hurt.

Was the alarm you installed after the first attempt armed at the time?:dontknow:

The first time they didn't get into the truck, they pushed in the key lock in the door handle and I just paid out right to repair it. I didn't realize they would cover the deductable.

The list for a immobilizer is very long, it will be manditory on all new vehicles in Canada in the next year or so...

Hopefully, I get my truck back sooner then later. There is only one place in town that installs them and they are backed up till March. :(

What's an immobilizer? A kill switch of some sort?

Well, I am not too sure what to type....

Autopac has seemed to lost my truck. :(

From what I have found out today, Autopac shipped my truck back to my home town dealership on January 2nd. Some how it went missing on the trip here.

I asked the owner of the dealership if he wouldn't mind doing a walk about and see if it may of just been dropped off and left. He just called and said that it wasn't on his lot.

My worst fear is that the tow truck driver left my vehicle on the dealership lot and it was stolen successfully this time... :dontknow:

Well time will tell.

My brother-in-law's truck came with one. it won't do anything without pushing the transmitter.

I agree, but I have no idea if the key was left in the truck or not. If it was, anyone can drive away with it.

Honestly, I am not worried about the truck as much as driving a loaner vehicle with a $500 deductible that isn't mine. There is a lot of advantages here to having a $500 deductible, especially if the loaner was stolen.

Wow! So you were having it towed to the dealership to have the immobilizer installed, and now it's missing??

That's pretty jacked up dude! I hope you get it back in one piece!

Maybe they already took it into a service bay? Maybe the dealer is messing with you?

Looks like a lack of communication between Autopac and the towing company. Somehow, the towing company missed the order to tow my truck to the dealership over the holidays. It is still at the compound. After 4 days of wondering where my truck was at least it was safe... :)

Looks like they will be towing it tomorrow. By the time the dealership gets the parts in, it will probably be next week. :(

Only good thing is the gas I am saving driving the little Cobalt...
