Nothing could be easier than changing the oil on these trucks, right? Well if your name is FatJack you should know nothing is simple. Got it all jacked up and on jack stands, slid my 15 qt. drain pan under her and got started. Nothing simpler. The drain plug points to the rear and not straight down so I am thinking this bitch is gonna shoot oil out a foot or so and I don't wanna make a huge mess in the garage floor so I scoot the pan way back and loosen the plug. This damn thing must shoot oil back at least 2 feet and of course the first quart or so overshoots the pan (slow reaction time, I am old)
So I get the friggin mess cleaned up and put the plug back in and move to the front. Our Oil Filters are also super easy to get to and it loosen very easy. I was real careful with it and knew it was gonna leak a little oil coming off so I backed it off a little and thought that it was finished draining, nothing could be simpler. I turn it about a half turn more and oil gushes everywhere, I got it in my face and on my shirt and all over the floor, of course I am laying on back back under the truck. Amongst all the sweating and cussing I got it done probably will let the Dealer do it next time.:D :D :D

Damn,
I needed a bunch of help to get started but got her done first time without spilling a drop, didnt jack it up either. :)

dang rookie;)

You need an oil filter relocation kit... mount it upside down next to the dip stik. Makes oil changes a breeze...

Been there done all of that...my consistent problem now is that I cannot change the oil without dropping the filter into the catch pan and splashing oil everywhere to include all over me!

I hear your pain...

Getting a taste of what it's like to be an oilfield roughneck. "It's a gusher!":D

Man i wish I was there to see that one. I would have laughed my ass off, and then told you to get cleaned up , and we can roll to the titty bar, that would take your mind off the stupidest thing I have seen

Hopefully the dealer you take it to is not like the ButWad Mazda dealer that ripped me outta $124 dealers for an oil leak on my wife's car that they said was blow by from me changing the oil. If thats the case they might tell you that you have a cracked oil filter, wipe it down, say its fixed, and polish your lug nuts. All that will be left is a $200 bill and your set. Just kidding, your oil change story reminded me of my roller coaster ride.
