Anyone have any tips on getting the stock spark plug boots off the spark plugs? I cant get ahold of them to grab them.... info is appeiciated..... Thanks

I have the "plier style" bot puller but cant get them in the plug heat shields.... do we need those on there? if not how do they come off?

I really hate having to remove them by hand. I did it though.. Then putting them back on wasn't fun either. In fact I think I damaged the #7 wire. The boot came off but the metal coupling stayed on the plug.

Only three bolts hold the heat shield on. . .

I had to remove one of my heat shields to index the plugs. I just squeezed it with a pair of channel locks and pulled it out. I guess I was lucky, I twisted the wire boots and they just pulled off.:dontknow:

Those individual heat shields around the plugs come off,I just wiggled them and pulled them out (may have to use pliers),some I had to squeeze together just a little to get them out and when you put the plug wires back on use the electrical grease for the plug wires makes it way easier the next time!

I removed the heatshields for the plugs and plugs by hand, just take your time. Remove the shields first, use your left hand to help your right hand squeeze the shields together cause they are shapped like a C, wiggle and pull up. Then it's not hard to get the plugs off.

Comeon brah, MAKE MAN lol

Yeah I too pulled the heat shields out forst. Then a used a set of angled long needle nose pliers to remove the rear ones. Mine wasn't bad at all.

"TWISTING" the boot as you pull on it is the key. Then use a q-tip and put a good coating of dielectric grease inside the boot when you reinstall.

Thanks for all the info guys... I got it... I was workin on it while you guys gave me info.... Thanks

See? Now this is the info I needed the whole day.. What if when you're going to put the plugs back on, you find that a spark plug still had the metal connector thingy attached to it that was from inside the wire boot? I ask because I'm scared I may have boo boo'd.:afraid:

when i replaced mine at the Roe install, i had several having that thingy broken off and still on the plug... :( ofcourse for replacing it's not a problem.
