Gotta log in to see the pictures. Anybody surprised that a Hennessey job is messed up? Why people still give that toolbag their business, I will never know

my fav part !!!!!

Guys, being an Auto owner as far as my QC I have no need to venture into clutch comparos, but I have been racing 6 speeds for about 11 years and let me tell you I have personally used spec stg 1,2 and even gave it a shot with the stage 3 and no luck on any over them for racing. Break in period was fine, but a few launches on the street or track send them quivering. Now that was about 8 years ago I tried the last one and since I have been swearing by RAM CLUTHES or a good Centerforce. I did not have one shatter but lost springs, pads, and had one that wouldn't balance for shit!!! Just a FYI for people with 6 speeds from someone who has lived and learned and lost money!

"ADMIN EDIT, SETTING THE RECORD STRAIGHT! - THIS IS NOT A HENNESSEY CAR - SEE POST #21!"

quote from the first page

:dontknow:

It don't matter what kinda of clutch you have, if you can't drive a stick. Or if your a moron and do something stupid. I know my stocker exploded because of a missed down shift at 4500-5000 rpms. Was it the clutches fault no, my dumbass. It gets really old when people replace the blame of there stupidity on a failing product because of their ignorance.

I agree alot with your post man since it isn't in our natural ability to drive a standard well. I have been driving since my first 65' Ford with 3 on the tree and racing it as well. If you didn't time shit right you lost the race and were stuck on the side of the road unlocking the gear linkage! A good shift had me taking all kinds of muscle cars.

I tought my wife to drive a stick and although not a race car she has accumulated 176K without a clutch one! I am a proud husband;) Now with all that said I have some experience in the field. I unfortunatly have seen bad clutches, pressure plates and flywheels. Yes sometimes they are due to an idiot that doesn't know how to shift, but more often I have seen them fail due to manufacturing!!! Rarely have I ever seen a stock (OEM) clutch disintegrate in to shrapnel. I have dumped them at 5Krpm in mustangs, Trans Ams, Camaros, Vettes, and even 1 Viper truck and never had anything other than Hydraulic clutch issues or just flat out burning the disc. Had a flywheel get spider cracks from too much heat, but over years of racing and not being turned ever!
Basically what I am saying is there is a SUPREME lack of QUALITY ASSURANCE in the aftermarket industry and it really is unsafe.

Now safe is another story! With all the atrocities I have seen with clutches during TRACK AND STREET RACING I think all standard trannies should have a factory Blast BLANKET aroung the bellhousing to prevent losing legs or damage to other parts surrounding the clutch area. I know this is a requirement on the track, but only with cars achieving certain times on the track. You can bring your 1000 HP daily driver to the track for a fun day and end up going home legless!!

I am looking into upgrading my clutch soon and was wondering what Brands you guys have tried. I've heard some negative things about the Centerforce and now the Spec, at least the older renditions. I saw where DC Performance was installing ACT clutches. Just curious on other brands you guys have tried or recommend. Thanks
