speeding on the streets

My Dad taught me to always drive like everyone else is out to try and wreck me. Do I speed, yes. All the time, no. Will I take on a C4 if the conditions are right, yes. Did he win, no. But there is always a time and place to race and speed (I agree that they are 2 different things). The worst drivers I see out there are those that are preoccupied with other things such as cell phones or reading a book.

John I am very glad you are atleast posting some what more than you were.

On the speeding issue. When I first got my drivers lic. I had to buy my car and pay for everything it needed. By the time I was 17, I had a Big block 69 Chevelle that I built (it was a small block car when I bought it) it was my sweat and money that made that car what it was, so I was pretty damn careful not to wreck it. However me being 17, I still came close sometimes. There is no way I would turn a kid loose in a hi horsepower vehicle without special training. It is far better to lift off the gas and live to play another day, than face the alternative. IMO!

Tonight, 1am. Found a backroad - completely deserted. Stopped the truck, gave it a good rev, let out the clutch and put my left foot on the brake.:burnout:

Only held it for a few seconds as apparantly, I was downwind from my back tires, and my windows were down. Didn't want a cab-full of Pirelli smoke!!:dontknow: :eek: Let off the brake and rode it out - pretty much sidewayz until I banged 2nd and spun about another 20 feet.:p

Gotta go take a look tomorrow as I'm sure there are a couple of nice stripes there now.;) :)

I will admit the only time I have not been speeding was when I drove Silverback's bananaMobile a month ago and that was only outta respect for him....I am a speed demon always have been, always will be. I will smoke any of you fool's and laugh at you while doing it :D You Bitches want some GMC power step up :rock: :dontknow: I smoked a prius and a Dodge Caravan on the way home from Pete's house today :p Anybody want some :rock:

I guess I'm the perfect old geezer to stick his head in the door at exactly the right moment..... My personal circumstances considered, maybe too perfect...

When I was young...even into my 40's, I'd race on the street when the circumstances were right. I've always relied on my sharp senses and youthful reflexes to pull me through.

But as time passed I noticed that even if I WAS being careful, my opponents were frequently thee most frightfully reckless little bastards on the planet.... They were willing to kill anyone else on the road just to pass me..... and I grew less and less willing with the passing years.... Now that I'm in my mid 50's, I don't race the street anymore....ever....

The risk is just too great.....

However, for those of you who'd like an out, I have a lovely Bible quote from the Apostle Paul.... I've even used this one in court.....Listen up:

"The things that I should do, I do not do. And the things that I should not do. These are the things that I do.... What a wretched man I am"......

Having said that, imagine how wretched you will feel when they bring your boy home in a plastic bag............ Was it worth it....?

But WTF.......Maybe I'm just the wrong guy to ask right now.......

Prius included. It is supposed to top out at 105. I've had it to 100 and runs easily at 80-85. Acceleration is for sh*t, but once it gets going the P will give you a run for your money and will save gas in the process. FYI, I've even had P's cut off my lane change attempts in heavy traffic while driving my Durango and SRT10, but nothing can stop me in my MR2!

Blah - Ain't really worth a picture. I went a had a look today and they are definitely there, but not very long. I remember years back I'd drop the clutch in my Mustang, in 2nd gear, and put down at least 75'. I'm almost afraid to do that with this truck with the weak clutch.

Whatever, I found it fun last night.:D :p
