SPILL IT ROY!!!

Stock: 556 hp, 551 tq

After a few days at Lingenfelter Performance Engineering:

639 hp

633 tq

(crank numbers using 15% conversion...its an auto...maybe I should use 20%???)

RWHP (Dynojet): from 447 increased to 513

RWTQ (Dynojet): from 449 increased to 484

So sweet, so smooth, the supercharger really sounds off now...moved from 9 lbs of boost to 14...totally different from the truck...the truck is violent and nasty (nasty is fun) but the CTS V is all about sophistication, refined but immediate response and smooth as silk...just instant go and incredible speed so quickly...

I have to think that it is quicker than the truck...best in the truck was 11.70's...(with slicks) I think the CTS V will be 11.60's (street tires)...maybe...

Scary quick...but fun!

Very Nice Roy

Hey Prof,Congrats on the #'s! WHat are you doing to prevent belt slippage? I'm running Stinkers 7" crank and an oversized idler pulley and my belt slips alittle!

I am beginning to remember the days of building GM engines and all of the after market opportunities that exist. Our Viper engines are a real challenge, these GM power plants are just so easy to improve...

I have never had any slipping on the belt on the Roe SC in the truck...and I have 20k on that belt!!! In the CTS V...I have not pushed it yet...but it is a new 8 rib serpentine belt and only uses the oem tensioner.

Very nicely done Roy! Congrats!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Can't wait for this summer! :D

It is so simple and so smooth...like fine wine or a great cigar.

Wonderfully satisfying Joe.

I hear that the Coupe is at the Javits Center Car Show...have you checked it out? And today they put out pictures of the new CTS V Wagon:

How much boost can the stock engine handle on that car Prof?

I was talking to Tim Dyer (Sales Manger) at Lingenfelter about that...we are at about 14 now with no known issues (my install is one of about a dozen Lingenfelter has done). There is one that is pushing up over 20 lbs of boost on stock internals...but I have not heard from him in a couple of months...and I suspect that he has gone boom...

They have a test CTS V that is in Michigan that they are going back to work on in a little bit. They have tried a lower pulley, and large injectors in addition to the boost and intake mods they put on mine...but the results did not yield what they wanted so they are going back to the drawing board.

The LSA engine is very close to the LS9 that is in the ZR1 and they have gone beyond 1100 hp on the LS9 easily.

Without forged pistons and rods, I think (that may be the lynch pin) the practical limit for this engine is about 70 or 80 more hp than I have. Fuel is rapidly going to be a problem...larger injectors are going to be needed, and the heads are probably flowing about as much as can be expected already. So, the next steps are probably going to have to include some head work...and if you are going to pull the heads...you are very close to the point where you probably ought to pull the engine and drop the pan too.

This engine concept is very strong...but I think the next major steps are going to be internal...rods, pistons, cam, head work, so after another 20 to 40 more horses, this engine will be needing some major work to make a significant leap in hp/tq.

There are several CTS V's in the mid 10's...but those are spraying...engine only bolt on applications are mostly in the mid 11's.

JUST mid elevens????

Not one supercar was ever built by the factory, in the heyday of hotrods 1968 to 1972 that would run in the elevens.

I have only seen the wagon, (TV) the coupe looks sharp, (not practical as a "family" car):p I may be able to convince Miss Robin the wagon is the way to go. :)

the '69 dart 426 hemi with some slicks would be darn close and the race version I know hit elevens but I think those were dealership pacages if I remember correctly
oh and awsome ride prof. I would love to see the face of a c6 owner when you pull away

Congrats Roy. I am so jealous. My wife won't let me mod the STS V so I'm stuck with the 469 hp version. :argh:

Got any sound clips of that monster yet?

No sound clips...Borla is about to announce two exhaust systems for the V2's...one is just different mufflers, the other is a complete system...I am waiting to see the cost...
