Hey, My buddy over in winchester has gotten a sponsorship from a local
diesel shop. My question is has anyone thought of getting sponsorships
or have current sponsorships for our trucks. The mods are crazy expensive
and i figure it couldn't hurt to try and get a sponsorship.
Your thoughts?

I think it would be hard given our trucks are no longer produced. It would be nice though to have a souped-out truck always racing to represent us.

just my 2 cents here, but if one gets a sponcership then everybody will want a sponcership so i dont think it will work.

obviously we all can't have national sponsorships :p maybe 1fast400 :aetsch:
But i mean more on a local basis. Since almost all the members are some what
decentralized as in were not within 50 miles of eatchother (maybe not in cali?). I know for one that i'm probly the only owner that wants to get a
sponsorship in Northern VA. ;) I could be wrong though :dontknow:

I thought in order to attract a sponsor, you needed to be in some sort of competition (ie, racing, car show, stereo comp) so that you could "showcase" their products or services. A sponsorship isn't something the everyday Joe gets just for driving his truck back and forth to work. I could be wrong but that's how I thought it worked.

I agree. Most Sponsored Cars don't get driven. They are used only for shows... A LOT of shows. Most sponsors REQUIRE that you take your car to a certain number of events. Even across the country. (Which you usually have to pay out of your pocket to get to). It's a LOT of work having a car that is sponsored. Most of the guys that I know have sponsors just to get them into the events and they like the exposure. They don't do it to save money, because they usually end up paying more in the long run..... But, nothing is better than seeing your car/truck in a magazine. :burnout:

Good luck on trying . I have been with some of the companies I rep for 10-15 years and still dont get free stuff but thats Rod stuff . Racing I think is so saturated unless you got a hell of a track record ,I doubt it would happen . Now if you were a ricer they seem to have so many new companies springing up that from what I see it's a piece of cake to get free parts .
Hey but never hurts to try !!!!!

I've had several potential sponsor deals that never happened. One of which was supposed to be the Hyper Audio thing for instance. But I haven't had my truck in any real car shows so its hard to hook anything. However once I get some good exposure, THEN sometimes the sponsors will come to you. And having a good resume for your truck will help when asking a vendor for sponsorship stuffs.
Will I ever get my money back? Hell no, but its like it was said above, exposure is pretty cool and at some point I expect my sponsors to pay my travel costs and entry fees. But it's still time outta my schedule so I'm not gaining anything
