SRT-10 Finally Got A Challenge?? OR 2??

My last two issues of Truckin' have really made me sad........

Ok I am sure everyone here know that supposedly the 10 isn't the fastest production truck because of the aussie made "el camino" but did you know that Ford is coming out with a new SVT truck in 2010? It is called the Raptor and will be available in 4X4 only with an optional 6.3 litre V8 making a little over 400 HP. I have to say it doesn't look bad at all. Suppose to be 7 inches wider than a regular F150.

If that isn't bad enough, Pontiac is coming out with a lightweight truck with a 6.0 litre 361 HP V8 standard and there is talk of putting an LS9 supercharged in it!!!!!!!!! Yeah thats 638 HP!!!!!! I doubt it will happen but damn!

I guess Detroit is back to making gas guzzlers again LOL!

On a positive note. Truckin' 2009 Truck of the Year is the new RAM!

What does everyone think about these two new trucks??

The Raptor is pretty cool IMO, except for that stupid grill. The Pontiac is hideous, isn't that body a Holden or something like that? Reminds me of a Brat, but it's not as cool hehehe.

That is the Holden body style and look. I saw one when I was over there and it blew me away, those things scream but they are about the size of the old Ford Ranchero.

The Raptor is nice but no threat with 400 HP...7 inches wider?...why?...gonna weigh more than an 04 lightning and be slower..........as far as the Pontiac...GM didnt learn from the SSR failure....

The 2009 Ram deserves every award it gets...I have driven two 2009s and IMO the best overall truck now or ever..

Yep, heated steering wheel. But I think it is an option. The Ford is a neat for what it was built for, but it will be no match for the 10. It will be out of its element. The ford is more of the off road type performance stuff. Put it against the Power Wagon and see what happens.

Don't worry about seeing that Pontiac here. GM is not bringing it over here.

Saw the Ford Raptor at Barrett Jackson. I have a craving for a truck again now that I see that thing. Pretty cool but I would have to throw a turbo or SC on it. And yeah, GM killed the Pontiac so no worries there.

the ford will strickly be a off-road competitor. The pontiac G8 ST, or what ever they were going to call it, was officially shelved earlier this month, especially with the downturn and the bailout for the automotive companies.

maybe I'm sick but I was planning on buying the 6 speed 400+ HP LS3 G8 ST , that was supposed to come out before they canned it. there was never talk of a LS9 G8 ST.

They aren't producing the Pontiac for the US market, last I heard. It may have been at the autoshow as a "concept", but it's really just a re-badged Holden. They are enormously popular in Australia.

The Raptor is cool. It's got lots and lots of goodies on it straight from the factory. But, it's in a completely different segment than the SRT10. I don't like the grill either, but the rest of the truck is tough lookin, IMO.

To be honest I really think that the Ford would make a bad ass ride for on the beach. I don't really like the color scheme they chose (the stickers in the back look cheap). I think that the front grille neds to be changed or at least chrome!

dammit! I finally found another vehicle I thought was pretty cool and they canned it! Always liked the aussie utes (what i was told they were called). Just dont wanna spend the money on right hand conversion! Dam you pontiac!
