i got off i45 at the rayford/sawdust exit north of houston the other day and ran up on a BMW M3. dont really know what year it is but it was the newer style of body. and quickly i had ask him at the red light if it had the 333hp and he said yeah...i think those are pretty new..in the last 2-3 years i think. anyway we are takin a left on sawdust and i gave him the "lets go" look and he responded by downshifting.. 1st race: we went from a 1st gear roll, i was going about 20mph...i let him get the jump but it didnt last long and i reeled him in quickly...powershifted 2nd and pulled like 1 1/2 cars on him to about 55mph and had to stop cause sawdust is kinda busy and didnt want to get stopped.. i slowed down and he pulled up and complemented me again on my truck...we got down farther on sawdust where it turns into groggins mill and its a long straight away there and kinda secluded by trees everywhere. so we go again from about a 40-45mph, 2nd gear roll, i honk 3 times and we both hit it at the same time. from there i pulled desently away from him until the top of 3rd gear and by then i was about 3 cars ahead of him.. i was actually really suprised with the truck. i really thought an m3 would run a little better than that.. i know it was a vert and its a bit heavier but i was suprised. anyone else on here race any m3's. my mods are a CAI and flowmasters.:burnout: :burnout:

Nope, never raced any... But, I did have a 2002 M Roadster. (2002 and Up are 330HP). It was the fastest and quickest production BMW until the new M6. I think the M3's run about 14.xx 1/4. They have some pretty NASTY little mods for those cars, so be careful. ;) .... Good Kill tho!

EDIT: Looked it up on Edmunds, Answers.com, and two Bimmer Sites- 1/4 mile time is 13.1sec. 0-60 in 4.5sec

Haven't raced one but on a test drive of an 04 with low miles, I could tell my truck was quicker. I even told the sales guy, "this thing is almost as quick as my truck, almost". He did tell me the car had some mods and it was quicker than the other M3's he had driven. And this was at the Beamer Store.

The stock M3's are fairly easy to torture, until you have to turn. The previous gen M5's were considerabally faster. If you've raced an 06-07 M5 (which I think someone here said they did) and won with a stock truck, congrats, because I drove an 06 M5 and they feel faster than our trucks. Funny thing on those cars is they last 2 cylinders are disengaged for the first thousand miles <shrug, just what the dealer told me>

The new M3's (08?)will have a 400+hp V8 (don't know if it's the 4 or 5 litre)... My guess is they'll also have a GTR version which will probably have 500+.

The new M5 has an smg transmission with a "launch mode" you hit the gas while holding the stick in an up position (it'll rev to ~4100 rpm) let it go and hang on... The 07's are available with the 6 speeds but the 7 speed smg is awesome...

I got pulled on by a CLS55 AMG with my RC (and I was pushing the truck hard)... I guarantee the M5 is faster than the 55 <shrug>

It's fun to bash the euro sports cars, isn't it :)

I've had several M3's over the past 10 years, and I've taught at the driving events at the BMW CCA's events as well. A stock E46 M3 would not take an SRT-10 in the quarter mile I don't think. It might be close if the guy driving the M3 was really good, but I doubt it. In the turns it's a different story, the M3 would win hands down. Alot of guys put active autoworks superchargers and twin turbo systems in their M3's and they become VERY fast cars. I always thought the M3 was the most fun all around car until I bought my truck!!

I had a Black M3 (2002 or so) come speeding up zig-zagging and ended up on my tail.I proceeded to leave him by many car lengths up to 120 or so .Of course I"m supercharged and I"m sure I had him wondering. He drove by and wouldnt look.:dontknow:

Thers a guy who used to work with me that had a 2002 Lugana Seca Blue M3.
He thought that thing was the fastest thing on earth till a co-worker with a 800+ rwhp turbo mustang gave him a ride.He came back all nervous and had poo running down his leg. lol
