SRT-10 vs an oak tree

Wow... that's painful to see. :(

At least nobody was seriously hurt. (Definitely looks like someone's noggin put a nice snowflake on the windshield.)

You should take the grille and screw it to the ceiling above your son's bed.

I felt worse for my son than I did for the truck. The truck can be replaced. A stupid decision like his could haunt him for a long time. Jail time. Possible loss of license. Heavy court fines. Lawyer fees. Greatly increased insurance. Loss of trust with his parents. (At least for awhile). Could even affect him in applying for future jobs. Oh yeah, he just lost his vehicle because I now need something to drive...

What do you get stuck driving now?

So I'm out of town for Thanksgiving with my wife and two daughters when I get a call from my oldest son (22) who stayed at home because he had to work.
"Dad, I wrecked your truck" he says. I'm thinking how can that be? You aren't allowed to drive my truck....
Turns out that he had a few friends over to watch football and drink a "few" beers. After said "few" beers he decided that he wanted to impress his friends by taking them for a drive around the block. He comes to the stop sign at the end of our street. Decides to make a left and floors it. Oak tree about 30 yards down the street stops him as he is finishing his first 360.

No one was hurt (except for bumps and bruises).

Police come and give him a free ride to jail.

I let him sit there for 3 days. Bailed him out using his own money and now every paycheck he gets from now until he is at least 30 comes to me...

I guess I won't make the GTC get together...

Sorry to hear of it...glad the boy's are ok... truck can be replaced...a son...not so easy.

Sorry about the truck.............Glad the kid is OK..........Imagine the loss......

Now you can take advantage of those super deals on SRTs out there.......

Man I'd put a sereious whoopin on that boy...................:D

At least he is OK... but if I had kids... and he/she did this to me.. not only would have I let him sit in jail for 3 plus days... and have every paycheck come to me... I would have also had a stolen vehicle put on his record... that way next time he gets a hair up is azz like that he will think about the criminal report on his records... I know its sound harsh.... but kids need to use their heads today.... just my two cents worth.

Well the good news is no one got hurt, so that means you get to inflict all the pain he will be dealing with. I too have a young son (15 years old), so I will have to try to have him learn from your son's mistake. You can beat his ass, just don't kill him.:p Please let us know how it all turns out.

Bill.

WOW! sorry to see that, i can relate... i have a 22 year old son too! he has driven it a few times. glad to hear he is okay, don't be to hard on him, at least you still have him! (could have been a LOT worse)you mentioned he was drinking...did he end up with a DUI? if he did, that is going to follow him around for the rest of his life (a little reminder). I'M GOING TO GO HIDE MY KEYS NOW!;)

Many of us did the same kind of thing when we were young...but we had better luck. You two will be closer in the future for the experience. I never got caught stealing one of the family cars...probably would have been better off if I had.

Makes another good argument for the VECIII. I have a "No Start" card and a "2500 Max RPM" card. This may be the "liberal professor" in me, but I would hate to have some 13 or 14 year old steal the truck and kill themselves or someone else...that truck is dangerous enough in my hands...

Be mad, get over it, and love that boy...this thankfully was a survived...mistake.

damn, im sorry for your loss. If I even get a ding in mine, I have to call the paintless dent remover guy to fix it. If someone wrecked mine like that I don't know what I'd do!

GLAD YOUR KID IS O.K.
SMART MOVE LETTING HIM STEW IN HIS OWN SHIT
IN JAIL FOR A FEW DAYS.I MIGHT OF GONE A WEEK !!!
TRUCK CAN BE REPLACED.CAN NEVER REPLACE YOUR KIDS
DONT KICK HIS ASS TOO MUCH!!

I'm glad I'm the adult and the kid rolled up in one driving my truck. I know my limitations while behind the wheel and respect what the truck can do. I'm sorry for your loss. Everything should work out in the end. I'm glad no one was seriously hurt.

I say you did the right thing. 3 days in jail.....hell yeah, that should wake him up. Glad nobody was hurt. My dad would have made me pay for it too....good call again.

Now call up Bill Pemberton and get one of those 06's cheap. Any chance you can grab some of your mods off the 04 and keep........or at least sell?

Those are so scary pics too!!! Wow!
