SRT per wheel weigh-in

I was attempting to get a GTech setup for my truck and it needs an accurate weight, so I pulled out a pair of 20,000x10lb scales and weighed the SRT. I weighed it on a slight incline, but measured it facing uphill and downhill and averaged the numbers. This is with 3/4 of a tank of fuel, and a 2nd full-size spare in the right rear corner of the bed. No driver.

DS F: 1660 PS F: 1490
DS R: 1290 PS R: 1390

F: 3150 (54%)
R: 2680 (46%)

L: 2950 (50.6%) R: 2880 (49.4%)

Total: 5830

So, the driver's side front could use some weight taken off of it - battery relocation would transfer some to the rear. With a driver, this imbalance only gets worse.

Doesnt look like Dodge did that bad. Definatly should have moved the battery to at least the passenger side of the truck though.

:dontknow: I suspect the RCs would be a little more imbalanced perhaps - hard to tell though. Not sure where the cab weight would end up, but no hitch, and that counts for alot since it's behind the rear axle. I suspect the 48RE and converter weighs more than the 6 speed, so that may even things out balance wise.

I thought the RCs were like 400lbs. or more lighter. As for the battery causing an imbalance in weight distribution, the difference between DS F and PS F is 170lbs. according to your figures Harold. :dontknow: How much does an average battery weigh?

a battery weighs about 70 lbs

how big of a battery are you using? 70 lbs i say 40-50 with relocation tray ext. at most.

So then, according to Harold's figures, that 70lbs. probably would do better located on the passenger side leaving only a 100lb difference (before added driver weight). Interesting. But there is usually so much going in the engine bay on the passenger side, in most members' rigs (SC's, turbos, CAI's, Volants, etc.), that a battery there may be difficult.

Weighed my stock qc a couple days ago. 3/4 tank of fuel and with Driver: 5825 lbs. Seems like I weighed the rc with full tank and driver at 5250 lbs on the same scales.

the fuel tank is on the drivers side...thats where you extra 170lbs in coming from..3/4 of a tank is about 19 gals...fuel weighs about 7lbs/gal so thats 133lbs give or take

And the battery? That's extra weight on the driver side too. I guess the extra weight is shared between the fuel tank, the battery, driver controls and the driver all on the same side. I wonder what Carlwaski's weight distribution is in the BatRam with his right hand drive layout.

My 04 RC weighed in at 5180 with 1/4 tank & spare tire, Also spray in liner.

Okay.. Cobraken clocks in at 5250 lbs. with a full tank of gas and driver weight added. According to Justin a full tank is 19 gallons or 133 lbs. 5250 lbs. minus the full tank is about 5117 lbs. Meanwhile, JR clocks in his RC at 5180, ¼ tank of gas and a spare tire. Justin said fuel averages at 7lbs./gal. So, at 19 gallons, a quarter tank is about 4.75 gallons. Times 7 lbs. that’s 33.25lbs.of fuel for JR. So, Cobraken’s 5250 lbs. minus JR’s 5180 lbs. is a difference of only 70 lbs. 133 lbs. in a full tank of fuel minus the 33.25 lbs of a ¼ tank is 99.75 lbs. Something isn’t adding up. SO what do the drivers weigh? Like 3 lbs.?
