SRT Trucks May not be forgotten by MOPAR

Check out this link from Car and Driver. I was just poking around the net to see if there was any mention or rumor of possible SRT trucks being resurrected.

May 2008 is the date.

There are also some video links (right middle of page, under News & Reviews) and one of them shows the Red SRT-10 from here that did the test for Car and Driver awhile back.

It appears from the article that Dodge has considered or is considering yet another SRT variant of the truck and is well aware of us nuts who would buy them if they got 2 miles per gallon down hill. Just so long as we could cruise down the highway setting our hair on fire with a ridiculous engine under the hood.

would love to see an 09 with a viper engine in it...lol
 
In my opinion this is a good thing. I, as many bought my truck because it was low production fastest production truck made and very collectible. I relate our trucks to the 60s and early 70s hemi cars look what happened to their values. Just my opinion:burnout:

i do know that back in italy right now, they are trying to stuff a ferrari engine (probably one found from 550/575) into a viper to keep the brand going along with stuffing a maserati motor in the 300c. So i'm sure there will definitely be some changes coming up.

Not sure if that is entirely accurate. Just read an article in Motor Trend about the Viper where Dodge was confirming the Viper is not dead and nor will it be in the near future. They also stated that they are not going to use a Ferrari engine and are simply doing technology sharing not parts sharing.
 
If dodge decides to make another SRT ram I doubt it will be a Viper engine in its engine bay I see it being a SRT-8 with the expected arrival of the 6.4L HEMI witch will be close to the 500 hp mark same as a stock 10 with better exhaust sound:D :D :burnout: :burnout: :burnout:
 
I've been involved with Vipers since '02 and it seems to me that at any given time half of the members swear the Viper's dead and half say it isn't. That's been going on since before the first Viper went down the assembly line.

I would go for a Dakota with a big hemi for the next SRT truck.

i don't think there is really a comparison between the viper car & viper truck..... the car has had steady production since 1994 with good market value, while the truck only ran production 3 years, had small numbers & ended production 4 years ago with horrible market value...... :(
 
well if the viper dose die, say good bye to another gen of 10s, and hello to SRT-8 Rams

I have to disagree........dollar wise the Vipers have depr much more....percentage wise not a lot of diff......based on Kelly Blue Book sugg retail excellent cond 30K miles 2005 models, RC....values rounded...

Viper....new $82,000.........KB value...$47,000....$35,000 depr..42.7%

Truck...new $48,000.........KB value...$25,000....$23,000 depr...47.9%

the simple fact that the viper car is still in production (15+ yrs so far) & the viper truck disappeared after a very short 3 year run speaks volumes......;)

the viper car is still in production.... the viper truck's short sad run say's there is no more srt-10 ram's in dodge's future.
sad but true. :(

Two different concepts...the Viper was intended to be a ongoing limited production vehicle.....the truck was just a "lets do something different" with a little "let's burst Fords bubble"........:elefant:
 
I REALLY dont care about the economic impact,or the current value + or - depreciation. I HOPE they NEVER make another SRT10 or 8 for that matter! All the better for those of us who have a 10!If it becomes a modern performance ICON,then KOOL! If it regains its original value,GREAT! If not,ok too......But from here on out,I am perfectly content to DRIVE my 10,untill I can twin turbo my 10,and then tub out my 10,and yes eventually have to be BURIED in my 10! (Yes driving of course!)LIFE IS GOOD WITH A 10~!
