Stage I vs Stage II vs VEC

What are the differences....anyone??? If I am not mistaken the Stage I vs II is about the Octance one uses but not sure.:dontknow:

Stage 1 - revised fuel and timing maps, not as aggressive as stage 2 (more 91 octane), rev limiter, and fan temp changed also.

Stage 2 - same as stage 1 but with more aggressive timing

Vec - Custom fuel / timing (user programmable), allows for larger injectors, does not do fan or other features.

depends on what you want to get out of your truck.

If I had the extra $$ I would flash my PCM and get the VEC, so you get the benifits of both...but if I had to ONLY choose 1, then it depends on how involved you want to get.

The VEC has no safety...so if you dont know what your doing..BOOM

Flash is a well tested fuel and timing map(s).

If you want to do the vec, I would make sure I have many things before playing with it....Wideband(s), Data loggers, timing logging, knock -logging, injector cycles, etc...

Sounds like the Stage II Flash is the way I should go. Do you recommen one company above another? Or are they all the same. Would you flash the stock PCM or get a second one?

I'd recommend the stage 2 pcm and get another so you can swap them out for dealership visits!!:rock:

Thanks for answering all my questions. Any particular vendor you recommend? What should I expect to pay for a new pcm stage II flashed? Hard to install? Make a big diff ion an 05 RC.

3 small bolts hold the pcm in place, just disconnect the battery first. Remove the pcm, install the new one, secure the 3 bolts. I even did my own and I'm not real smart

I bought DC Performances' blower flash/pcm for my truck, made a world of difference. Yours will see noticable gains.

Not trying to bustup your sale Kyle, but 04s and 05s have different PCMs. They are not interchangeable.
