Hello All.

My 2006 RAM SRT-10 QC looks like its going to be needing a new starter soon. It starts right up when engine is cold, but when engine hot it start with a delay. Looks like the starter motor is getting weak and it finding it hard to start a hot motor (piston more tightly sealed with block) than a cold one.

Anyone ever buy a new starter from a dealership? Price? Installation Labor? etc..

I saw 2 starter motor on ROCKAUTO.COM (only place i found it)

1) REMY 99626 is $191.49 (no core charge) - i assume its new
2) REMY 17492 REMAN is 249.79 including $70 core charge.

Can I just go ahead an order (1) or is there anything i need to lookout for??

Cheers.

Are you sure its the starter:dontknow: Have you checked the battery. If the battery is going bad it will start fine when cold and not when the engine is hot.

Check the battery first I have not heard of any starters going bad on these trucks. Especially an 06.

Really not sure. Just went based off what someone else said.

I will try everything you guys have suggested.

Load test the battery and then conduct voltage drop tests with the starter circuit. Starter going bad would be down on my list of possible problems. Battery being number one and poor ground being number two.

I had my battery checked out this past week and it passed. the starter failed the test though.
the Vendors for Auto Parts and Auto Zone do not have them in stock nor do they know when they are going to get any more so my money was refunded to me for those orders. Any new ideas?
