The way I understand it gm should cover all cost because it's warrentied, my fatherinlaw just bought a z06, and last weekend the same thing happened to him. He mentioned something about the recall not being a permanent fix, and he had ordered something to disable it. I'll find out more and let you know what I come up with.

Tim you might want to PM Stingray...he is a GM tech and has a C5...

He will surely be able to tell you how his dealership handles these things if yours doesn't seem to be cooperating.

I had a 04 vette. there was a steering column lock issue for the 97-04's. it was either a TSB or a recall. cannot remember which one it was. they should still be active recalls or TSB. if it is not active, and the dealership is a snake, they will make you pay for it.

also another common problem if the car has active handling is the steering position sensor goes bad and will kick active handling warnings and abs warnings. the sensor is basically a large variable resistor that looks like a donut. I have replaced that one also. it usually shits from 40k-60k miles
just FYI.

Just got off the phone with my son...

He already used up the recall when he had this prob last time.... :)dontknow:)

They charged him $169.00.

My father in law said his work is being done under warreny. He also said he got a module to permanently stop this from happening again. But in order to use it, the car must be functioning properly. He said he got the module for $50 off the corvettes of Houston web site. Hope this helps bud.
