Stereo help

I have a quick stereo question for you smartys. My niece got 2 kickers 12inch single voice coil 4 ohms subs and this amp --> LINK

Her box is a standard box (not ported and it has seperate chambers for each speaker.

My question is how I should connect the speakers up (Series or Parallel).

Depending on the load your amp can take will determine series or parallel.

Parallel will Pound 10x harder than series as it loads the amp down to 2ohms.. most amps are stable to 1 Ohm. So I would load her down parallel and get the most out of that amp

Yes if you wire anything into parallel the load " resistance" is cut in half .. and the current current increases... your basic calculations can be made by using ohms law.. V=IxR .. V- Voltage, I- Current amps , R- Resistance Ohms

Sorry guys. I was installing a new service pack for my Vista Ultimate 64 Bit windows.

I do have a question though. amtrucker22 what type of Kicker 12??

If I am reading this right you are going to power 2 with this 1 amp???

Why I am asking? Two Reasons.
One most Kicker 12's handle alot more power than that amp gives out. No matter what ANYONE tells ya, the death of most speakers is distortion from being under powered.
Two Sealed Box systems that are used regularly normally require more power than vented or ported ( Although I think they sound much better sealed )

Yeah it is all she has and she is broke LOL. I think they are kicker CVR's I would have to look at the boxes in the garage.

I understand. Just wanted to make sure. If they are CVR's then they need 300 to 400 watts a piece! Hooking it up to the amp will play them but if she really cranks it up, the distortion from the power difference will blow the subs.

For the long haul it might be better to just run one?:dontknow:

As I was reading your comments I was thinking, maybe I should just run one.

Maybe only run one until she can afford a bigger amp. It was a stretch for her to pay $99 for the Profile amp. Maybe that will be a birthday present for her. Any recommendations on a relatively cheap amp that would be able to push the 2 12's?

I would be interested. I am not looking for anything crazy, she just wants it to sound OK (she is not a audiophile by any means). She can run one for a while. Will 1 4 ohm speaker do well with an amp that is suppose to run at 2 ohms?

What size AMP did you get??? I mean, whats the power output for single channel 4 ohms, single channel 2 ohms and dual channel 4 ohms? That should be listed in the owners book or possibly on the amp itself.

Also, what power range do the speakers operate in and what are the air requirements for a seald box application??? The books for the speakers should tell you what power rating they handle, and also the size of the box you need to have them in if your gonna run them sealed. It should be listed by volume (IE: .3 Sq.Ft.). Sealed boxes sound much better, bass hits tend to be much tighter and crisper, but the speakers do require a certain amount of air volume to work in.

Paul, running one will be fine it just uses even less power from the amp. The lower the ohms, typically the higher the power (not always). I will see what I can do.

Just looked at the boxes. They are C12's 150 RMS 300 Peak. Will the Profile work for this?

Yeah Paul you should be fine. Technically speaking you need a different amp but you are close enough. It should sound just fine. I would buy a bigger amp that meets or exceeds the power needed if I cam across one cheap But for now I think that will do just fine without any problems.:rock:
