Stinkers Braided Stainless Brake Line Kit for SRT-10 RC

I recieved one of Tony's (Stinker) Stainles braided brake line kits.

It is a very well designed complete kit.

It looks good, and goes on very easy.

I had a young man ( my oldest daughters boyfriend, 25 years old) install the front part of the kit and we also did a line lock install using Tony's Stainless braided lines and fittings.
I did this on pupose to see how the install would go as he has never done any brake work other than change pads. It was a piece of cake for him to do the install. I had him read Tony's directions and basicly do it by himself. The only thing I did was tell where the tools were and took pictures.

I have a few pictures that outlines the install process on the front end. I have not done the rears yet but it looks even easier than the fronts.

The kit is absolutly complete with everything you will need to install the parts.
Everything was well tagged and labled and the directions were very complete (9 pages with many pictures).

I am very inpressed with the Product.
Well thought out.
Complete.
High quality parts.
Everything fit perfectly.
No surprises anywhere.

I did not pay for this kit, as Tony would not let me do so. This has in no way tainted my opinion of this product. I would gladly pay for it as it is very cool and works. I gave a very honest and thorough evaluation based on a great deal of experiance with this type of modification. This is a first class complete kit that installs easy and looks good. Braking performance and pedal feel is much better with just the fronts done. I will try to get the backs on ASAP.

Is this moslty for cosmetic reasons, or does it actually make the braking better? I dunno, maybe I missed the thread about this.

I might be interested if its affordable and is worth more that just cosmetic reasons...I am in the prioritizing phase of buying MORE POWER!!!

Requirement as per FMVSS106
Low Expansion Hose – 0.33 cc/ft(1.08cc/m) @ 1000 PSI
0.42 cc/ft(1.38cc/m) @ 1500 PSI
0.61 cc/ft(2.00cc/m) @ 2900 PSI
Result -
Stainless Braided PTFE Hose –
First recordable data at 0.010% (0.0002932cc/ft) @ 4000 PSI.
Rubber Hose - Note – results may vary slightly dependent on manufacturer.
0.136 cc/ft @ 1000 PSI
0.150 cc/ft @ 1500 PSI
0.290 cc/ft @ 2900 PSI
Although the Rubber hose does meet the requirements of FMVSS106 it is
clear from the results that the almost zero expansion rate of the braided
hose cannot fail to have a positive effect on brake pedal feel/pressure at
caliper and, potentially, stopping distances.


Results for Burst/Working Pressure
Requirement as per FMVSS106 / SAE J1401
100 % PRESSURE TEST all hose assemblies.
3000 – 3600 PSI – Hose assembly shall show no signs of leakage/rupture.
BURST TEST – required for initial approval.
4000 PSI FOR 2 minutes. Pressure is then increased to 7000 PSI.
Hose assembly shall show no signs of leakage/rupture.
Result -
Stainless Braided PTFE Hose – Burst test result 12750 – 13500 PSI
Recommended Safe working pressure 4250 PSI
Rubber Hose –
Note – Hose data supplied by other rubber hose manufacturers may vary.
Burst test results – 8000 – 9000 PSI
Recommended Safe working pressure 3600 PSI
Hose Life Expectancy
There are no specific requirements for Hose Life Expectancy however this
should be a consideration when deciding on which product should be
selected for a specific application.
Results;


Stainless Braided PTFE Hose –
Guaranteed for Life of Vehicle, usually stated as150,000 miles.
This is possible due to the high quality PTFE liner and the Stainless Steel
Braid.
Rubber Hose -
3 years or 60,000 miles
Note - This is the average quoted life expectancy, We have not carried out
any testing to verify this data

This is just some data for the differences between the rubber hoses on uur trucks and the braided lines in the kit.

Basically the lines will last longer, and provide a much firmer pedal.

The lines do not expand like a rubber line will giving the firmer feel of the pedal.

Also the line will not rupture like a rubber line can, the burstin pressure of a braided line is much higher.

Almost every racing organization will use a braided line , they give the driver a bettter feel, and the fluid doesnt brake down as fast providing a longer lasting feel for the brakes.

They also are much safer, being it much tougher to tear off a braided line, compared to a rubber line.

Also many of the higher end vehicles , ferrari, saleen, and others use the braided lines.
And with our trucks being a limited high end super truck, it just complements the ride that much more, they actually look like they belong there
