i was wondering how to remove the stock mid-pipes from the manifolds, without twisting the clamps above the bolts.

Do i have to use vice-grip pliers or what??

I just received a set of the JBM catless mid-pipes and, his electric o2 sensor simulates. Do the simulates replace the bottom o2 sensors or the top ones?

Thanks.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!!

I just took mine off this morning, I used a die grinder with a 3" cut off disc to cut the bolts in half at the manifold. No idea about the O2 sims, someone else Im sure will chime in.

Just installed my mid-pipes last weekend. There are 4 bungs welded in. The rear ones were "capped off" and the O2 sims were in the front ones with the O2's screwing into them. As for the Stock bolts with the square nuts, I cut the bolts in half and used the bolts supplied with the pipes.

Ok, Im sure that would be Much easyer that trying to Wrench them off.

I didnt get Bolts with mine, They came Used. Are the just a Standard Nut and Bolt assembly, Or something Special???

Wow, Its going to be tough to Find a Grinder that i can fit up in there.....

It's not easy, you'll need Gumby arms but it can be done. The hardware I got from Justin were new standard nuts and bolts. They will work fine but if you get a set of Bassani's, they come with, what look like, heavier gauge bolts and nuts. I'd suggest using some lockwashers (1/4") on the bolts you got with the kit, just to be safe.

Just opened my pack of bolts and measured them for ya, they are 5/16" X 3", comes with 6 bolts, 12 flat washers, and 6 nuts. Nothing special.

Now i can be ready to install my new ones right after i hack the old ones.

This has been a Big Help

Mids dont fit!

I just tried to install my mids, the 3" bolts are too long, maybe 2" or 2 1/4 would be better. Let me know if your pipes fit, mine are about 3" too long. Theres no way mine will fit without modifying them. I got the special ones to be able to remove the 2 1/2" reduced piece at the front of the muffler. The instructions say to cut the reduced piece off and leave as much of the 3" pipe as possible. Maybe I should have gotten the normal ones. Ill talk to Justin and see what he thinks.

I had a problem with my mids as well, flare was to small ..... what a PITA that was to get right.

What flare are you talking about? The one where the pipes fit to the manifolds?

Yes ...... Had to have a local shop open them up, carefully ..... then used shorter full threaded stainless bolts and all is well.

Here is my pleasant experience this weekend. First off I sprayed some penetrating lube on the manifold to midpipe bolts. I got lucky and didn't even break one of those square thingies. And those factory bolts are long. An air wrench would have been much faster. If you use an air wrench I would start with a rachet to get it started and have the retainer bolt against the stops before going to the air wrench. If you decide to not cut them off.

Another tip is to slide the muffler section as far as it will go. That will help with connecting them as one. You might even have to unbolt the mids to line up with the muffler. I tried that and it still did not help with my mids. Plus as you can tell there is not much room to play with up there.

Unplug your sims before trying to take them out. I couldn't reach the front passenger side to unplug. So when I installed them again I gave the sims a good 8-10 turns counterclockwise so when I screwed them back in the wires would not be in a bind.

My overall install, which is not finished yet, has become a pain in the but for me. I can't get the mids to fit on the muffler section. It seems the mids need to be a little smaller on the OD for the slip joint. I can not get the extension (QC only) piece to fit on the mids. I even tried sliping them back over the factory cats and had no problem getting them started.

I put the extention piece back on the muffler and seems like the mids are just a hair too long to go together. And I couldn't figure out how to slide the mids up further and still be able to line up the extension. But it looks like it might just barely fit if I can get the extension to go over the slip joint as far as it will go, then I might be able to slide it back on the muffler. But right now it will be in the hands of the exhaust shop for me. I had enough after a day and a half of trying to get it together.

Oh disconect your battery before you start on the driver side. Starter is right there.

Overall I would suggest sliping the mids on before you bolt them up if possible then install the sims(don't worry about plugging them into the wrong plug, it won't fit. I also found that out too.:D) Get some lock washers as suggested above. For me on the bolts I had the nut facing down for tightening purposes. I had heard somewhere you should always tighten on the nut and not on the bolt head.
