Got this from a friend, may be a repost:

Is it just me, or does anyone else find it amazing that during the mad cow epidemic our government could track a single cow, born in Canada almost three years ago, right to the stall where she slept in the state of Washington? And, they tracked her calves to their stalls. But they are unable to locate 11 million illegal aliens wandering around our country. Maybe we should give each illegal alien a cow.

They keep talking about drafting a Constitution for Iraq. Why don't we just give them ours? It was written by a lot of really smart guys, it has worked for over 200 years, and we're not using it anymore.

The real reason that we can't have the Ten Commandments posted in a courthouse is this:

You cannot post 'Thou Shalt Not Steal,' 'Thou Shalt Not Commit Adultery,' and 'Thou Shall Not Lie' in a building full of lawyers, judges and politicians...It creates a hostile work environment.

Things will get better, I have a lot of confidence in this country and the people who love it. I just wonder how bad it has to get before the people decide that we need to get involved and make sure things get back on the right track.

How would you suggest people get involved? It certainly isn't the old "Get out and vote" campaign. Look at what we have to choose from. How can we take this country back? I'm not sure anything short of overthrowing the Government will get things back to the way they were.

Back to the days of the militia taking up arms and joining the revolution to take our country back. Probably not going to happen. I'm not saying never because it's happened before and I don't know what groups out there have up their sleeves.

Letters are a great start. I routinely communicate with my elected legislators. I suggest we all do the same. Over the years I have been invited several times to gatherings of people who have done the same. 10 or 15 years ago I was asked by a congresswoman to work on an advisory committee for her. That came from persistent letter writing (and a lot of fund raising for her too).

She was adamant about term limits, and stuck to her guns. If she had not had a massive stroke that took her life, she probably would have been the secretary of the Navy under President Bush if not a possible candidate to replace Rumsfeld as Secretary of Defense.

RIP Tillie Fowler.

If political activism is repugnant (I certainly understand) then contribute funds to those causes that fit with your philosophy. If it is important to you, you have to make sacrifices to get involved and support those who echo your feelings.
