For those of you with Striker heads, was it necessary to clearance the header's mounting flange between exhaust ports? As are, the flat header mounting flanges don't sit flush due to the material between ports, as the surface was only milled at the ports, rather than all the way across.

I can see the exhaust gaskets taking up some of this, but the header flange still stands off from the heads enough that I'd be concerned about blowing the gaskets out in short order.

I don't have Strikers, but do you have a picture of this?

Here is mine, can you circle or point out where the issue is?

I am not Eric, but I believe the problem is represented in the circled area.

On his heads, the circled area is actually built up above the exhaust port seating surface. The seating surface is machined down in the face of the sidewall. Between each port is a non machined area. The web on the top of the bellanger manifold may interfere with that web of unmachined material.

Is that the just of it Eric?

That doesn't make sense. The machining process passes over the entire surface and grinding the mating surface down only would prevent the use of exhaust manifolds.

do they provide some sort of spacer?

Actually, they don't make a pass over the entire surface (I called JM).

Turns out that some clearancing of the header flange will be necessary. Odd, but I suppose a small issue considering the power advantage these heads provide.

I cut the flanges off my headers when I first got them. they were bumping into the plug wires
