Alright the time has come to either shit or get off the pot. I have a chance to get a Paxton at a pretty good price. And of course, I'm having some second thoughts. Mainly on reliability. My main question is.... If I stay with the stock Paxton boost (I think 7lbs) and a conservative tune, how long should the motor last. I really don't have the money nor the time to invest in a rebuild any time soon. I just want a reliable daily driver with some extra power  :D .All opinions welcomed. Thanks guys.

Somebody posted here last week I think stating they had 60,000 on a Paxton everyday driver with no issues.
Yup, that was Alex (litemup). His truck is what got me leaning towards a Paxton.

with you having a quad cab. your tranny will be the main issue. once you add 150 horses if you dont keep the bands adjusted and fluid and filter changed it will start to act up. might consider the gm solenoid conversion while your at it. that would probably help out a lot.

You are doing what I am too much of a pussy to do and won't do until my warranty is up!

One tip though... You say just a little more but it is very addicting, if were me and I went that route, I would start putting money away for a build in the future.

Good luck!!!! Hope it lasts!!!

Thanks Eddie. Did the GM solenoid the first month that I had it.:)

adjust the bands twice a year and you should be ready to roll

as if it hasn't been said enough....

enough is never enough for me...so that's why i won't get one (for a while)

but if you can honestly say...yep...THAT IS ALL....then it should be fine...

like eddie said, stay on top of the bands/fluids in the tranny...i think that's the weakest link in this case...

and i wouldn't go more than 600 wheel....anything over that on a stock motor i think is flirting with disaster....

Agreed. And yes, I can keep it at stock boost. That is until I save up for a rebuild. But that will be a LOOOOOOOONG time from now. That's why I want to make sure that this thing will be reliable.

You better go for it...you're gonna need it when I'm spraying down the track :D :D :D
Brother, after Friday night I realized that our trucks are dead even. You and Dan are the two reasons why I need to do this. :D

Yea man...once I figured out the tree and how to launch I was almost breaking into 8's...
Imagine if we go down with a s/c and juiced qc's, we'll be working more than half the people at the track! we already give most of them a run:rock: :burnout: :burnout: :burnout:

Get it and then save up for the internals. Like everyone said just keep her at a safe tune until then. That way when you want more you know what your gonna need. I had mine on until I built my motor and no signs of damage when I did build. Also one reason for staying under 600 is the fuel pump sucks balls plain and simple. so that is another thing you have to consider when you do want to go more. You can Do it:rock: :D :marchmellow:

Do it DO it DOOO it,....

Eddies Roe supercharged truck was a beast, it ran easy 7.80's at Breakaway dragstrip and sounded great doing it. You would be very pleased with the results.
