sts turbo system

Boomer is right on. STS is lucky no one has really taken them to task about the numerous numerous failures here. I cannot beleive they are still marketing them.

One thing I found quite telling is that when ROE was selling their tester kit on Ebay - it was sans the tuning and fuel kit. What does that tell you?

Even Roe quietly took it off their web site for sale.
Roe was contracted to do their fuel management work. I believe it was a version of their VEC. They wouldn't tell me anything specific, but by their no answers on performance questions, it alluded to me that they weren't happy with their project aspect and were having issues. Plus I just so happened to take a look at a dyno and as I recall, the mid level rpm band was having some boost issues, or lack of boost. Somebody with a STS feel free to correct me on this if I have it wrong.

They also had this big sock over the air filter. I guess it was for extra water accumulated there in a rain storm. For some reason, they had to test it with the sock on. Seemed like it was robbing it of air.

It sounded like a beast however!

why would you continue to take peoples money, KNOWING the end-results to come?

That is why you won't ever see my turbo system for sale. Instead, I will part it out if possible. I had a well known magazine shoot a photo spread of my truck just before the second "bullet proof" engine failed. They contacted me afterward to finish the article and publish the story. They still wanted to run it even though the engine failed. I refused because, until the issues with the V-10 are resolved I don't want anyone to read about my truck in a magazine and think that this is a viable alternative to boosting our trucks.

My second engine lasted a total of 1,000 miles before #3 rod bearing disintegrated. All the other rod bearings looked like they have 100,000 miles on them and the cylinder walls looked just as bad. I believe that detonation killed my second engine but there is evidence of mechanical failure too, including a possible bad oil pump. My understanding is that if the oiling system goes bad, #3 and #4 are the first to be deprived of oil. Subsequently, a lot of dead #3 pistons and rods.

There is a lot of speculation about what exactly happened to my truck and why the STS system doesn't work. The bottom line is that it didn't on mine. Personally, I just am not willing to put anymore of my money into it to find out why and I don't want to see anyone else lose an engine either. BTW, I wish our engines only cost $10K like someone said earlier!

That was me. That figure was pulled out of thin air based on the price difference between our trucks ($45ish) and a similarly equipped Hemi ($35ish).That's original MSRP not the current state of affairs. Big Dave

Yeah 10k sounds about right, i remember calling a viper salvaged website that sell 1st gen eng-trans and wiring for $7,500k, 2nd gen for 10k, and 3rd gen for $13,500..this was about 2 years ago, i would imagine that they are prolly cheaper now.

Not if you want all new.......

I heard some pretty steep pricing. I for one, hope to never find out the hard way.

Then there's the time.....a lot of it is waiting

Yes, and yes. Detonation due to lean out. Found out too late that the mini-VEC had not been loaded with a program, contrary to what I had been told. And having been the impatient type, I ran it before the A/F gauge install was complete. That's why I take the credit for this failure. It could have been prevented, or at least delayed.

This next time around will be a completely different story. Built motor, different power adder, custom tune, and gauges working from the start.

When I got my kit I got new updated cards from Roe. Then later I did some dyno runs and sent the A/F's to Roe and they gave me more updated cards. I'm running so rich right now it's sad. But I'm really scared to lean it out too much.
