It is a dual-voice coil (At least, I think it is... It has two sets of wires running to it.). Many have replaced it with other brands. :)

Does anyone know the impedance of each coil? I have already replaced my dash speakers with some 2 ohm Infinity Kappas.

it is dual, and when you take it out, the wires split into 2 strands inside the box. the shorter set is for bass, and the longer set is for voice, and if you get the 2 bass wires backwards all it does is bump backwards so flip them. as far as subs go, use something with a low amp rating. if you go with one that has a high rating, it will be way too underpowered. any ?'s pm me

What about the amp? I'm guessing that's an amp under the front seat where i used to keep my heaters. Can that be taken out and replaced with something bigger without too much trouble?

you will need to run a adapter from your rear speakers or change the head unit. pretty much it would be easier to start from scratch. you really cant use the stock wiring. espically the power and grounds. most aftermarket amps need at LEAST 8 gauge wire and should have 4 gauge

...or, you COULD get a 600 RMS amp with speaker level inputs, mount it under your driver's seat extend the wires from under the center console that used to go to the factory amp as inputs to the new amp. Then run a power wire and run new speaker wires under the carpet to your brand new shiny PROBOX with dual 12 inch subs...works pretty well, actually...:D

Nice mod ;)

I plan to sell my sub as a boat anchor on ebay.....Stereo upgrades will come after performance upgrades are done....Of course, I keep coming up with new performance mods :D

Still suffering with the stock POS system :(

That Box works great

I have the same one, its very nice.

Or you could also go to Hyper Audio, I heard they are very goo. Just make sure you have VERY little gas when you bring it in!

could I just replace the stock sub with a jL w1v2 and will it work with the stock amp just fine?

No I don't think you can. It was designed to work together in that enclosure. You could replace the unit with a kicker 10" square sub. See picture.

i want 2 kickers behinds the seats with a sub in the middle and a viper fang. can you also make the nav play dvds?

I thought it was an 8" sub?

Anyways, I was told that you can't upgrade the amp and keep the same speakers.

So I went with two pioneer P3S 10" subs under the back seat and changed out all the door speakers with alpine. I have two 500 watt amps. 1 for the subs and 1 for the door speakers.

I also had 2 Rockford Fosgate tweeters put in the dash where the Infinity dash speakers were.

My shit RAWKS HARD!!!:D:D:D

Oh...and I had an Alpine DVD flip up installed in the dash w/ and IPOD adapter that is in the hidden compartment.;)

Even though you "could have" used the factory amp.... You are better off not using it. ..... You did good, you Skywalker. :)
