im am removing the...... headers / intake manifold / heads / throttle body that i got from hennessy performance and lookin for wats going to give me more of a performance

cant do any thing about the internals ( pistons, connecting rods, lifters, push rods, cam and the crank ) just dont have the money to rebuild the engine again - so it will stay built by hennessy im looking for more performance out of my v10 and looking for suggestions

also im doing a tune up ne suggestion on plugs and wires

remember im running a n20 built motor

Well I am biased.

And you will probably find that many on this site are the same. So take my comments with a grain of salt.

JH product or not...if you are performance oriented beyond the stock Viper 10 cyl engine...you really must start with forged pistons.

Since JH was involved, my biased opinion is that you need to start with a build that tears it down and starts at the beginning. I would assume at this point that you have no idea what the internals are. I also would assume that you have no idea is JH did any internal work. (I know you say it is a built motor but JH sometimes forgets what he actually did, if anything) If he did, and you are sure that he did so, then once again you need to tear it down and start over.

If you are positive that he did not go into the engine...then here are my suggestions:

The easy and relatively safe way for strong strip performance is NOS...great things can be achieved with this simple and relatively safe approach...go the JMB approach in my opinion!

If you want a little more involved process that is less strip and more street oriented...go with full cat delete, a pcm flash if it is a QC, and consider a Paxton or Roe SC.

The real question is what do you want...until you can clearly define what your end goal is...everyone is just throwing out ideas.


And if you are leaving the engine "as built by JH" you are already throwing good money after bad...

Do the right things, think about what you want...clearly define your end goals. Then your first step will be (no matter what your goals are other than selling) go through the engine. (Stinker would be a great place to get that done.)

you are not the 1st person to tell me that wat i paid for is prob'ly not wat i got from JHP.... to tell you the truth you are correct... i dont know... wat i do know is that the bill i got from JHP after the work was completed 7mths later was XX,XXX.xx...... for a built motor .... ok let set that aside

i have about 12g's to spend that i have been savin for about 6mths or so... and i know that i cant get a build for that i need at least 30k

im lookin of something in the range of 800+ rwhp.....

i figured i could start out with the bolt on 1st but if u guyz tell me i should wait and get a rebuild - then that wat im going to do.....

im not looking to be the fastest.... but i want more out of my 10

my truck as is will run mid 11 sec low 12 ... but all the horror story i am hearin about JHP.... i want to fix it so i dont blow a motor and really get Fu@ked

allright leave the headers intake and so on on. you'll be fine with those products, JH or not.

but do this when you get ready.

remove the heads and comfirm you have non oem pistons.

then pull down the oil pan and try ot figure what if anything was done to the bottom end.

now if you have non oem pistons and rods, you should be good to go.

either a roe, or a paxton if you want forced induction, but you may want oem manifolds to keep up boost if you do this.


but you can do a roe, its allready proven to make 700hp, that or the paxton.

now the one thing you cant find out if you do have aftermarket pistons is the rings. there are specific rings to run nos over a 200 shot.

but with a simple roe, and a 150 shot, you could make tons of hp, with minimal dollars bo.

its not near as dismal as it seems;)

but the best thing is to first find out whats been done to the bottom end
 
Like Stinker said... the things that you need to know for a little piece of mind are not expensive, remove heads, pull pan. You definitely need to do those things before going further. You REALLY don't want to have a catastrophic engine failure and munch a block.
 
I have a better idea than Stinker.

Take the truck to him...give him a budget and a hp goal plus or minus 50 rwhp. Your 10k, will do and will give him some profit...

Give him three months to completion.

I see a possible turbo set up...maybe not a twin...or maybe a Roe with NOS...

He is correct about the existing bolt on stuff...I hate saying that he is right...but he is so damn often it pisses me off!

one of my customers just got the first set of venom edition twin turbo manifolds;)

I could not pass up the chance to mention I hate Hennessey. The other guys mentioned Stinker ( Tony ) or JMB ( Justin ) they are both stand up guys that you will enjoy doing business with at all levels. Good luck and did I mention JH sux :)

yea im gettin all amp'ed up - really lookin forward to it - im going to do as suggested and pull apart the heads and see of the internal were done and not OEM :) then i know where i stand on the $$ flow - im thinkin STS turbo setup or something like that ect..... still thinking

STS = BOOOOOM go with roe or paxton, justins procharger or turbo
 
no need to go sts if stinker can get manifolds now. Dick had to mention that:D Now I am really pondering the compound boost theory. But if he can get them that is a way to go. But I am biased and Love my Roe.:rock:
